“Where the hell are you?” I closed my eyes.
“Working.”
“Don't give me that bullshit.” Despite everything, a laugh nearly escaped.
“There she is.”
“Viking.”
“I'm fine.” The bond betrayed me; I felt her reaching. Fuck.
“What happened?”
“Nothing you need to worry about.”
“I swear to God, if you say that to me one more time...”
“Bryn.” My voice weakened. I hated it. “Listen to me.”
“Okay.”
“I'm safe.”
“Are you hurt?” I looked at my brothers; Lucien shook his head.
“Nothing that won't heal.” Eventually. Hopefully.
“What does that mean?”
“It means I'm coming home.” I notice that Lucien looked away and Draugr's jaw clenched. Volken pressed harder against my wound which almost had me blacked out.
“When?” I couldn't answer immediately because outside the broken warehouse windows, the horizon was changing. Dawn. Fuck.
“I need you to stay calm.”
“No.”
“Angel.”
“Where are you?”
“Bryn...”
“WHERE ARE YOU?” I heard the fear, felt it. And something inside me fucking cracked.
“Bryn.”
“I'm here.”
“Put your hand on our baby.” My brothers went still.
“What?”
“Please.”
My eyes closed, I pictured her. My mate standing somewhere in our home with her hand against the place where our child grew.
“Okay.”
