A blush washes over me at the graphic image. “But?”
“Besides the fact that Ze’ev would disembowel me if he found us like this, a mate bond requires harmony. Godric and Ze’ev don’t trust me. If I pushed this any further before they did, it could kill us all.”
“That feels… counterproductive,” I murmur as I squeeze my eyes shut. A wave of dizziness swarms over me, and I breathe through it until it passes.
“This feeling is because Ze’ev hates you?”
“Partly,” Arwan admits.
“So how do we make him not hate you?” I ask, finding that as the obvious question to resolve this.
If I’m going to save my sister, that means I have to get through the Monster Games.
It means surviving, and if establishing mate bonds with Arwan, Ze’ev, and Godric gives me the edge I need to do that, then that’s what needs to be done. Especially if they can be reversed.
It’s not because I want to be their mate. Nope. Not at all.
I’ve already rejected Godric before he rejects me, and nothing has imploded. I try to keep that in mind as the throb between my legs makes me go crazy. I’m bonded enough to demonstrate gifts from his power, and the bonds are only growing more demanding. All I know right now is that I need Arwan to finish what he started in the dream realm.
Before I lose my mind.
His cock nudges the curve of my ass while his teeth graze the edge of my ear. “You are insatiable,” he purrs as if pleased with me. “But I do have an idea that might just work, if you’re willing to take a risk.”
My entire life has been a risk.
What’s one more?
“Tell me,” I say as I turn around and face him.
Arwan smiles, then surprises me as he slides his tongue between my lips. I part for him, accepting his claim as he takes me, lavishing me with a hungry kiss before he gently nips my lower lip.
He presses something into my hand. “Give him this. Tell him how your life is linked to mine, and then I’ll come to you both so he can see for himself and know that you’re telling the truth. He can punish me however he wants, get it out of his system. Then we’ll see what we can do about completing our bond before the games begin.”
A shiver runs up my spine.
I’m not sure what happened between the two of them.
Or what punishment he might think Ze’ev would have in mind.
But I know that I need to complete these mate bonds if I’m going to survive.
If I’m going to find my sister and get her out of this Gods-awful place.
There’s a twinge of hope inside my chest, one that says I have deeper ambitions and more prominent desires that make me feel guilty and selfish all at the same time.
The outcome is the same no matter my true motivations, so I numbly nod before Arwan kisses me again.
It feels like his way of apologizing for what’s going to happen next.
CHAPTER 32
A knock at the door makes my eyelids flip open.
When did I fall asleep?
“Enter,” Arwan says. He’s still behind me, holding me tightly against his body like I might vanish at any moment.
And I’m still naked and covered in—
