I know he likes it when I say his name.

His voice finally roars in my head, and his dick throbs as my walls clamp down on him.

Fuck yes, he finally says.

His curse is a release of control, one that has his body dominating mine. He groans as he comes with me, his seed spilling into my womb, and whatever high I had been riding crashes as I remember.

There’s one thing preventing any true mate bonds I might have with a creature of Monster Isle, even an Outcast.

There’s one thing they care about most of all.

I’m not who you think I am, I lament as my body rides the orgasmic high.

When Ze’ev realizes it, he’s going to do what everyone else in my life does.

He’s going to reject me.

And I’ll be left… alone.

Again.

CHAPTER 28

Godric finds me before I return to the encampment, and he seems furious.

“Did he hurt you?” he growls.

I stare at him. It doesn’t matter how many times I see him naked, I’ll never get used to his sculpted body on full display.

“No more than you did,” I retort as I hug myself.

I’m wearing one of Ze’ev’s extra shirts that drapes all the way down to my thighs, but it still doesn’t hide much of my body.

Getting away from the Outcast had been a feat in and of itself. I can still feel his eyes on my back.

Get out of here, I think at him. I’m not sure if the tonic is still working. My strength feels sapped from my limbs, but whether he hears me or not, he has enough sense not to show himself.

The pack master curses under his breath but can’t seem to help himself as he closes the distance between us. He hovers his hands over my shoulders, then drops them to his sides. “My wolf trusts the Outcast a lot more than I do. He should never have left you alone with him.”

I give him a raised brow. “Does your wolf take over often?” I’m genuinely curious.

“No,” he says as his gaze skates over me, clearly looking for injuries. “I just have less control over him without my necklace.”

Oh.

As if he’s more concerned about my well-being than his destroyed necklace, he pinches my chin, then lifts my face. He curses again when he likely spots the bite marks. “Did that asshole drink your blood?”

I feel like what happened between us is none of Godric’s business.

He’s the reason I suffer from these heats in the first place.

He’s the reason I want him when I can’t have him.

Damn him.

Jerking my chin out of his hand, I glower at him. “If you wanted to know what happened between me and Ze’ev, you should have been there. Necklace or no, it’s no excuse.”

He winces, and a strange surge of satisfaction swells in my chest.
