“But it’s so fun.”

“JJ,” I warn, wanting her to relax.

“Fine. Bye.” She clicks off.

Grabbing all her snacks, I quickly head to the cashier with my personal camera crew following me.

The cashier looks at me, squints his eyes, then widens them. “My man, you were a killer today. I mean, you and Trevor didn’t even give them a chance.”

“Thank you. I appreciate your support.”

He rings up the items, lifting the tampons into the air. “It’s that time for your girlfriend, huh. Sucks for you, man.”

“It’s something natural that can’t be helped. I think it sucks for her more since she’s the one who has to go through it every month.” I raise a brow. “Don’t you think so?” I ask, annoyed by his stupid ass comment.

He gets flustered. “Yeah, man. Sorry. It is harder for women.”

I smile at him as I pay for my items and grab the bags. “Glad you think so too. Hope you’ll be watching our next game.”

As I walk away, I hear him yell, “I definitely will!”

Once I’m in my car, I throw the bags in the passengers, and with one final wave to the fans recording me, I take off.

Pulling my phone out of my pocket, I call the one number I have memorized because of JJ’s consistent craving for it during this time of the month.

I know my girl.

I walk into the room to see her eyes glued to the TV as she undoes her braids. Damn, I was a huge fan of it. She looks gorgeous with any hairstyle. But her in braids?

If there is no one that tells her that she looks good in braids, then that means I’m dead and gone.

“What are you doing?” I stupidly ask, knowing she is taking out her braids.

“Cross, you make it so hard not to throw sass. What does it look like I’m doing?” I roll my eyes and toss the snacks and tampons on the bed in front of her.

With a smirk, I comment, “Well, I had fun at the store.”

She bites her lip, trying to hide her smile. “Yeah, you’re trending. All the ladies want you. One of the comments said, ‘Respectfully, can she fight?’”

I chuckle. “Well, today proved you can handle yourself.”

She lifts her hands. “Do you see these nails? Do you think I’m getting into an actual fight? Puh-lease. Your ex was child’s play. I am not going toe to toe with anyone anytime soon.”

“Can I help you with your hair?”

She smiles. “I will never say no to free labor.”

I jump beside her on the bed and finally notice what she is watching. Slowly, my head turns to glare at her. I know a look of betrayal is all over my face when she avoids eye contact.

“You heathen, you didn’t even have the courtesy of changing the channel when I walked in. How dare you?” I accuse.

While I was out getting all the required goodies for her, she was watching the new episode of our favorite superhero tv show. She is already halfway through the damn show.

She places her hands together in a prayer position and sticks out her bottom lip. “Forgive me, for I have sinned.”

My glare intensifies. “No. You are the reason I have trust issues.”
