We are both breathing hard, his chest pressing against my back. Christ, this is even better than reading it.
He kisses my shoulder before rising off me, pulling me up with him. He turns me around to face him, then gently kisses me. He pulls away and presses his lips to my forehead before pulling me into a hug.
“Yeah, this book will definitely be a New York Times best-seller,” I mutter. His chest rumbles with laughter.
“You’re funny,” he says.
“I know.”

“I should have taken you home first and dealt with your bruised lip. I’m sorry,” I murmur as I ice her swollen lip.
I shake my head. “The sex was worth it. You checked off like three things from my list.”
We’re back at my place after deciding to skip the party. She tried to convince me to leave her and go, but I would rather spend time with her. Plus, partying is how I ended up needing to be in a fake relationship in the first place.
“Are you making headway with your book ideas?” I ask, curious about her progress since her deadline is not that far away.
She’s literally superhuman. I could not imagine trying to write a whole book in a short time frame. I lost my mind over 1,000 words in college, while she writes over 90,000-word books.
“Definitely. I finished my outline.”
My eyebrows jump up. “You outlined?” Not once have I ever seen an actual outline for a book from her. Usually, it’s just a bunch of random notes she compiles together.
She gives me a cheeky grin. “Well…no. It’s more like I just wrote a bunch of potential scenes and hope it will all come together somehow.”
I snicker. “I knew it.”
She opens her mouth but closes it when her face morphs slightly as if she is in pain. She places a hand on her stomach and sighs.
I graze my hand against her shoulder, moving her hair away. “What’s wrong?”
“I’m cramping. My stupid period is starting and ruining everything,” she complains. “I need to go home since I only have my emergency tampon in my purse.”
I shake my head. “Stay. I’ll go and buy you some more. Plus, I’ll pick up your favorite snacks.”
The huge smile that forms on her face makes me want to do anything she wants if it means that I can keep seeing that look on her face.
“Thank you.”
“Anything for you,” I reply, grabbing my keys and heading to my car. Five minutes later, I end up at CVS. Scavenging through the aisles, I finally find the section.
Christ, there are so many options. Regular. Super. Super Plus. Ultra. What is the difference between Super and Super Plus? All they added was the word ‘plus’. They really could’ve—
My phone rings, and I pull it out to see JJ calling. I answer and immediately say, “Are you calling to supervise?”
“No. I just notice you’re stuck on whether to buy regular or super. Get the regular.”
My eyebrows scrunch in confusion at how she could possibly know. I glance around and roll my eyes at the people at the end of the aisle, trying to hide the fact they are recording me.
“Jesus,” I mutter, throwing the super pack back on the shelf. Then, fixing it so that I’m not accused of being an asshole who throws things around in stores.
“Yeah, this is great. They are like my personal CCTV.”
I chuckle. “Go find something to do and stop watching me.”
