June 30, 2027.
I glance at him. “What happened today?”
He looks around the clearing. “Brought my girl to see where I want to build our future.”
My throat tightens. “Bishop.”
He slips the matchbook into the glove compartment.
And I think about the boy who lost so much before he was old enough to understand why.
The man who spent years afraid of wanting something he couldn't bear to lose.
Now he's sitting beside me, making plans.
I reach for his hand.
“I'm sorry about the Cup,” I whisper.
Bishop looks down at me, his blue eyes still carrying the disappointment of the loss.
Then he reaches for my hand and pulls me against him.
“New York can keep the Cup, Becks.”
He presses a kiss to my forehead.
“I've got you.”
EXTENDED EPILOGUE
ONE YEAR LATER
BISHOP
I've played in front of twenty thousand screaming hockey fans. I've scored game-winning goals, survived playoff overtimes, and stood at center ice with an entire arena chanting my name.
None of that prepared me for standing in line at a bookstore. Especially when the woman signing books is mine.
“Seriously, Bish?”
I glance over my shoulder.
Jax Morrow stands behind me, holding a copy of Laney's debut romance novel.
“What?”
“You live with the author.”
“And?”
“And you're standing in line to get her autograph.”
“First in line,” I correct.
He shakes his head. “Unbelievable.”
Behind him, Kiley laughs. “Leave him alone. It's adorable.”
