“Good to go back to sleep. Lift your arms,” she insisted.

I wanted to argue and tell her I was fine because I didn’t want to disappoint her and ruin the plans she made for us, but the lack of sleep was catching up to me, and I’d be shit on the ice tomorrow if I didn’t catch some Zs.

Reluctantly, I lifted my arms.

“You’re such a good boy, Sweet Hart,” she purred before slipping my shirt off. My dick, which seemed to have a mind of its own ever since meeting Vera, reacted favorably to her praise.

It’s official… I have a praise kink now.

A little later, Vera had me stripped down to my boxer briefs, set my gifts on the nightstand, and guided me beneath the comforter.

“Where are you going?” I asked, barely able to keep my eyes open.

“To the living room. I plan on catching up on some light reading while you’re napping.”

“You can read in bed,” I insisted.

The corner of her lips tugged into a soft smile.

“I wouldn’t want to disturb you.”

“Get your ass in bed, Vera,” I demanded, flinging back the comforter for her to join me.

“If you insist,” she sighed dramatically, reaching for her purse and climbing into bed with me once she had her book. I squinted at the title and rubbed my eyes to make sure I wasn’t dreaming.

“What the hell are you reading?” I asked in dismay. “Are you seriously reading about biochemistry?”

She raised a brow.

“I am. Is that a problem?”

“No, of course not, but that’s what you consider light reading?”

She shrugged and scooted closer to me.

“Lie down, Sweet Hart,” she said softly, tugging me down. I rested my head on her chest and wrapped an arm across her.

“Thanks for the gifts. I love them,” I whispered against her sweet-smelling skin. I couldn’t place the scent but knew I wanted to smell it again. I smiled when she lightly tugged on my earring.

“You’re welcome, Sweet Hart.”

I woke to harsh whispering and realized Vera was on the phone.

“Why are you stalking me, creeper?” she hissed.

Benchwarmer isn’t going to learn until I put my foot in his ass.

“I’m not being trafficked in Toronto, and you need to stop tracking my phone.” I remained still as I continued eavesdropping. “What are the dates? That’s during spring break. I’ll be there. I’ll book my flight this week. I love you, too. I’ll call you later.”

She hung up and caressed my cheek.

“Everything okay? I don’t have to kick anyone’s ass, do I?” I grumbled.

“Hart, you don’t want to mess with this person. They kick ass and take names.”

“So do I. Get them back on the phone. Wait. Where are you taking off to for spring break?”
