“I like seeing you in my clothes.”

My cheeks warmed, and I was grateful for my dark skin. I hated Hartford Samuel Myers with passion—not really. But every second with him chipped away at my defenses. He’d already told me he feared falling in love with me, which meant he definitely would, and he’d more than hinted he wanted to make me a WAG. But all these big feelings were happening way too fast, and I didn’t know what to do with them. But I also couldn’t allow my past trauma to keep me from experiencing happiness because then my ex would win.

So, for now… I’ll go with the flow. I’ll match Hart’s energy, and I won’t hold back.

“I like wearing your clothes,” I replied.

“Now we just need to see you in a jersey with my name and number on it.”

I smirked.

“I think that can be arranged.”

We arrived at the parking garage, and I was confused when Hart led me away from the Bronco.

“We’re not taking the Bronco?”

He aimed a fob at a garage and clicked it.

“It’s not fast enough. Plus, I don’t want to be flying down the highway like O.J. Simpson.”

My mouth dropped when my eyes landed on the sports car that occupied the garage.

“Can I drive?” I asked, running my hand over the sleek body.

“I don’t know, Sugar. You drive like a getaway driver,” he said, tugging his earring.

And this is where I go in for the kill.

“Please, Sweet Hart?” I asked, crowding him against the car. “I’ll have something extra special for you in Toronto.”

He smirked.

“You’re trying to seduce me,” he accused.

“Is it working?”

He dropped the fob into my open palm, and I purred in delight when he loaded my suitcase into the car and lowered himself into the passenger seat.

This man is already in love with me.

StickChick14: Hey, Hartbreak. You want some company tonight?

BraylinsMama: Heyyyyyyyy :) You’re hot and my favorite hockey player. We should hang out after the game.

GreenandWhiteBabe: My friend and I are staying at the Hilton in room 402 if you’re interested.

I blocked all of them and the additional twelve women who’d graciously offered to keep me company after the game. No matter what city or country I traveled to, there were at least forty women in my DMs desperate to sleep with me.

Most of them were obsessive and went to great lengths to snag a player for the night, to the point that they were willing to risk their jobs. Many of these women worked in the service industry. They had details about our flights, hotel accommodations, and even where we’d have team dinner. It wasn’t unusual for the hotel front desk clerk to let her and her friends into our hotel rooms after the game. It was creepy and a total invasion of our privacy, but our dicks were quick to tell us to shut the fuck up, whip out those NDAs, and take photos of driver’s licenses before getting down to business.

Fucking around like that was risky shit. It only took one woman with ill intentions to fuck up your career and your entire life.

Thank fuck I don’t have to take those risks anymore. Not when I have Vera. Speaking of…
