"But what about his apartment? It sounds like someone tried to kill him. I can't get that out of my head."

And Rachel really wished she'd never mentioned it. Naomi was like a dog with a bone when she got curious about something, and while that investigative streak was great when tracking down a possible soil contaminant, it was only making things more difficult now. "I have no idea what the bombing was about."

"Okay. Just thought I'd ask."

"I did want to ask you about the soil test. Did you receive those results?"

"Not yet. But Lieutenant Harris has been wearing gloves, and her rash is starting to clear up."

"Sounds like you found the culprit," she said with a smile. "I was really impressed with your work."

Naomi gave her a proud smile. "Thanks. I try my best."

"Is there anything else?" she asked, pausing at her office door. "I have lunch plans."

"I hope you're meeting someone fun, maybe a good-looking, single man?"

Tyler definitely fit that description, but she wasn't going to tell Naomi that. "Just an old friend."

"Too bad. I was hoping you'd snagged yourself a hot lunch date. If you ever want to meet anyone, I have a few people you might be interested in."

"Thanks, but I'm fine being single, and I don't like setups."

"I understand. If you change your mind, let me know."

As Naomi left, she went into her office, took off her coat, and checked the time. She still had a few minutes before she needed to go downstairs and meet Tyler. She sat down at her desk, thinking about what she could do to help further the investigation. She'd already compiled a list of people who had missed appointments, which she and Tyler had never really gone over. Maybe they could do that later today.

Tapping her nails restlessly on the desk, she thought about what Jack had told them about Megan Prescott and Dr. Levitan. They were going to try to talk to Megan, but if that didn't work, what would be the next move? Tyler might have to play his FBI card, which he didn't want to do. But without an official request to Waverly Health, no one was going to talk.

Medical facilities were bound by strict privacy laws. It wouldn't be easy to get any of their records. They had to find a way in the back door. And then it occurred to her that she had something the FBI didn't, a medical license. She'd also been treating veterans for several years. Maybe she'd be interested in making a move to a private health center. Maybe she should talk to Dr. Levitan about it.

Her mind began to race with new, probably dangerous thoughts. Levitan might know she was Jack's previous doctor or tied to some of the other patients. That might not be a problem. Perhaps she could use that to her advantage.

Without giving herself too much time to think, because she might chicken out if she did, she picked up her phone, found the number for Waverly and asked to be connected with Dr. Levitan's office. She made it as far as his receptionist.

"My name is Dr. Rachel Thorne. I've been treating veterans for several years, and I'd like to speak to Dr. Levitan about a mutually beneficial opportunity. Would it be possible to schedule a short meeting with him?"

"He's quite busy," the receptionist replied. "Can you be more specific?"

"One of my patients raved about how Dr. Levitan had changed his life for the better. And I would love to see if there's a way for us to work together in the future."

"So, this is about a job opportunity."

"Or perhaps we could consult."

"Hold on," the woman said.

She let out a breath, wondering if she was showing her hand too early, as Tyler would say, or if she was giving just enough information to get Levitan's interest. Regardless of what he might or might not tell her, she'd really like to meet him, see what he was all about. That might give her some clues as to what kind of treatment he was performing on people like Jack.

The woman came back on the line. "Dr. Levitan can give you ten minutes tomorrow at four o'clock."

"I can make that work."

"You can come directly to his office on the fourth floor. We'll check you in at our desk."

"I'll see you then."

She was a little shocked that Dr. Levitan had agreed to see her, or maybe he hadn't. Perhaps his nurse or PA had told the receptionist to go ahead and schedule a short meeting. Either way, she was getting in to see him, and that felt like a small win.
