“Uncle Colt! Daddy said you’re going to—”
Jett stops the next word from coming out by putting his hand lightly over Wyatt's mouth.
“Secrets, boy. We gotta learn to keep them. Both of us, apparently,” Jett jokes.
He places Wyatt down, who then darts towards us. But in fact, bypasses me entirely and stops in front of Gianna.
“I did some drawings. Mommy said I need to show you soon. I made one especially for you to cheer you up.”
Gianna’s face lights up as she bends down. “I’d love some of your art, Wyatt. I also need your help with something else.”
Wyatt gives her a gap-toothed smile. “What with, Auntie G?”
“Well, Preziosa is home, and I was wondering if you could teach me how to look after a sheep?”
“Yes. We have to take good care of Sally so she doesn’t end up back at the hospital,” he tells her sternly.
“I’ll do my very best, Wyatt. I promise,” she tells him.
My heart has never been more full. Having Gianna loved by my family, not just allowing her in as a power play, means everything to me.
She is exactly where she’s meant to be, and so am I. Right by her side.
CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED THREE
Gianna
Plucking the hat from Colten’s head with a giggle, I’m tossed into the air and thrown over his shoulder for the remainder of the walk back to our house from the stables. I wanted to spend more time with Preziosa before he whisks me away.
“I can walk you, caveman!” I say, slapping his back.
He taps my ass in response, kicking open the door. “We’ve got a few hours to kill before phase two of my plan, so lunch,” he tells me, setting me down on my feet.
I secure the hat on my head with a huff. “I’m hungry for something,” I tease, wiggling my eyebrows and glancing at his crotch.
He shakes his head. “Real food first.”
I pout in response. “You promised earlier.”
He chuckles, squeezing my ass as he walks past to the kitchen. “Sit,” he says, pointing to the dining table, the one Hunter had delivered to ours after he bent me over it.
Apparently it’s our wedding present. Resting my hands on the back of the chair, I watch him make us some sandwiches.
“G, sit, please. We need to talk.”
My heart hammers. “Why? Are you breaking up with me?” I blurt out.
He carries the plates of food over with a frown. “Don’t be so fucking ridiculous. I love you. I am not breaking up with you.”
I eye him suspiciously as I sit. “What do you want to talk about then?” I ask, picking up my sandwich.
“Our future,” he says.
I place my food back down on my plate.
“Okay… what about it?”
He chuckles. “Gianna, you’ve got LA to run, an empire to build. We need to figure out how we make sure that runs smoothly, alongside anything else you want in life.”
