I don’t even have time to comprehend that as I’m running to the other side of the truck. Her purse is still on the floor.
“Gianna!” I scream.
Hunter yanks me back, and I slam the door, smashing my fist into it. “Where the fuck is she?”
“I saw a white van when I was comin’ round. It sped off down the track; I couldn’t see much, only the fact it was white. I thought I was fuckin’ hallucinating,” Evan tells me.
Jett is frantically searching through the debris, screaming out his brother's name with such ferocity it sends me sideways. Both warehouses are on fire now, and we’ve got one firefighter dead inside the second building.
“You need to get the fuck out of here,” Evan chokes out, pointing at the buildings. “I need to bring in backup before this fucking takes over.”
Hunter rests his hand on his shoulder. “I’m so sorry, Evan.”
He shrugs. My heart fucking sinks, and we all look up in the sky; a black helicopter passes overhead.
She’s in there. I fucking know she is.
“Where the fuck is Tate!” Jett screams, the panic clear in his voice.
I grab hold of him, even if my own chest is splitting in two. My wife. Someone took my damn wife. And I’ll scorch from here to LA if I have to to bring her and Tate home.
“We will bring him back, Jett. I’m bringing them both home, if it’s the last thing I do,” I tell him, coolly.
Sliding my phone from my pocket, I’m already moving, jumping in the truck and dialing Enzo. Jett jumps in the passenger seat.
“Hunter, get Clive. I need a chopper to meet me at the ranch, now,” I shout, slamming the truck into gear.
“Colten, what’s happening?” Enzo asks. Like he knows it’s usually bad news when one of us calls, or it seems to be that way at the moment.
“Black helicopter, took off from Red Creek, near our units. I need you to find it, track it, and tell me where the fuck it lands. I need a live stream. And then eyes don’t fucking leave Gianna and Tate. We need to know where they take them,” I say, keeping it direct.
He’s typing in the background as I press my foot to the floor, heading back to the ranch.
Enzo says, “Got it. Owned by a Fabio Milano.”
I frown, my heart racing so fast I can feel it in my throat. “He’s dead.”
That means it has to be one of the Milanos who has done this. Someone who worked for her father. I need to speak to Dom; I need to get him the fuck out of LA.
“I’m sending you the tracking. Then once they land, I’ll have to see where it is and what cameras I can hack.”
It’s not as much of a war zone as when we went there to save Ace, but I need to go to California right now. I don’t care how dangerous it is. “I’m heading to LA. I’ll connect you with my pilot; you can advise him where we need to go.”
“I’ll clear my schedule for the day,” Enzo deadpans.
That’s one thing about this man. No matter what, we ain’t alone in this. He will do anything he can to protect us. There is no one else alive who can hack and track like he can.
“I don’t know what I’m gonna be met with; I don’t know who fuckin’ has them. I need some backup. Get Romeo on it and Dom should be at the ranch by now; we need him with us in LA to help us find them. He knows that place like the back of his hand; it’s his territory.”
Whoever is behind this has thought this through. They were ready to take Gianna right from me, and I don’t know why. If they wanted her dead, they would have shot her, not taken her away in a chopper.
“Are you sure Dom isn’t involved?” Enzo asks.
“I’d bet my ranch on the fact he ain’t. But I’ll still be cautious just in case.”
He doesn’t hesitate. “Romeo has put out a red alert; Vegas is on their way. I’ll send anyone else available."
I check the rearview and notice Hunter is right on my tail.
