“Do I?”
“If you want to eat you do.”
There was no heat in her words. Not to mention she was looking at him, as if she’d prefer to eat him than the food in her hands.
“Do you?” He placed his hands over hers, so they were both gripping the boxes.
She swallowed, and her fingers shifted beneath his. “Not pizza.”
He couldn’t help the smile that stretched his lips wide. “I can think of other things I want to eat.”
Color bloomed in her cheeks, completely catching on to what he meant. Her tongue darted out to moisten her lips, and like the last time she’d done that, all coherent thought left his mind, and his focus was only on tasting her—if she’d let him.
“I don’t mind cold pizza.”
With those five words, he had his answer, but he still wanted to make sure this was what she wanted, because if they crossed the line, there was no going back. He wanted to make sure she would have no regrets, because he knew he wouldn’t.
He may have spent the last few years fighting his feelings for her, but he was done now. He didn’t want to fight anymore. He just wanted Margot.
Plain and simple.
“Are you sure this is what you want, because you know taking the next step will change everything between us?”
“I know what I’m doing, and what it means. If you need confirmation, then yes. Yes, I want this.”
Chapter
Seventeen
Margot didn’t have a chance to blink before the pizza boxes were taken out of her hands and she was ushered toward Damon’s room, with a quick detour to the kitchen to place the food on the kitchen counter.
She didn’t even have a chance to take in any of the décor of where Damon slept, because the moment they crossed the threshold, he scooped her up in his arms and his mouth found hers again.
All thought escaped her, and she gave herself over to the feelings shooting through her.
Desire.
Need.
Acceptance.
For so long she’d fought her crush on the man now devouring her. She hadn’t allowed herself to imagine this moment, but since the day he announced she was going to live with him, she’d been hoping and praying that he would finally see her as a woman, and not as a colleague.
The softness of the mattress hitting her back returned her to the moment. She didn’t want to live in her head. She wanted to live in the here and now. Capture everything that was happening to her so she would never forget her first time with Damon.
“You still with me?” he queried as he rimmed the outside of her ear with his tongue, causing a shiver to ripple through her.
“Yes.” To prove it she clutched the bottom of his T-shirt and tugged it up until he took over from her and ripped it off.
Her mouth watered at the sight of his bare chest. There was a light sprinkling of hair covering his pecs, but it took nothing away from the muscles on display.
Margot struggled to sit up, as she wanted to touch him. Trace the ridges and valley. Kiss his impressive chest.
“What do you want, Little Pearl?” he murmured, sitting back.
“To touch you.” Her cheeks heated, and she wished she could control the way her body responded. She wasn’t embarrassed by her answering him and letting him know what she wanted. It empowered her, and she loved that he was giving her this autonomy as well. That he didn’t need to go all alpha male and take control and not listen to her.
Would there be a time when she did want him to do that?
