Razor leans forward from his seat.

“Are you two finished? Because I'd like to get my patient examined before she decides to escape through another window.”

“I wouldn't do that,” Madison protests.

I look at her.

She looks at me.

“Again,” she adds.

Striker loses it.

Even Grim's mouth twitches.

I shake my head.

This woman is something else.

Grim pulls me aside before we leave.

“What's your read?”

I glance toward my cabin.

“Something happened in there. Don't know what yet.”

“You think somebody got inside?”

“Possible. I only put the cameras up yesterday.”

His expression hardens.

“Then nobody goes in until we know it's safe. I'll have Lock check the footage and Hound look into anyone who's been around the property.”

“Get the brothers watching the roads too.”

“Already done.”

I nod, but my eyes drift back to Madison.

She's arguing with Razor again.

“Think somebody was after you?” Grim asks quietly.

I consider that.

The cameras.

My changed routine.

The fact that I'd normally have been at home around this time.

Then I remember the woman who'd been checking my windows for three days.

The only reason I wasn't home was because I'd decided to catch her in the act.

“Could be,” I answer.
