She pulled away, looking up at me. “I was thinking the same. But they are our friends. They only want to see us happy.”
I nodded, kissing her forehead. “I know. I just wasn’t expecting it. Even when I know I would support them if the situation was reversed.”
Scar nodded. “Absolutely. Remember, you’re a hybrid. Only half. You’re still in control here.” She wrapped her arms around my waist, pulling me closer still.
My hands feathered through her hair, bemusement stalling my words.
What had I done to deserve this kind of support?
At that same moment, laughter rang out from across the garage. Skye stood at the end of the pool table, leaning over so her cleavage was in plain view. Wes stood at the other end, about to break the triangle, and he shook his head at his fated mate who eyed him with the devil in her eyes, trying to distract him while taking the shot.
“I do not need to see that,” grumbled Tyler, turning his back on the situation.
Morgan laughed, egging Skye on. “Lower,” she said with a smirk. “Let him see it all.”
Skye obliged, lowering her top enough that Wes stuffed up the shot completely.
A bellow left me.
Wes’s smile drew wide, and right before he handed her the pool cue, he tipped it under her chin. A look passed between them before he let her take the cue from him.
I chuckled. He was so getting laid tonight.
I shook my head, laughing before turning back to Scar. She was still smiling after watching their interaction. “So, when do I get to teach you to play pool?” I murmured in her ear.
She threw me a doubtful look. “You know I don’t play.”
This wasn’t about the game anymore. It was about replacing painful memories with better ones. I let my voice drop to a huskier tone. “Not even on our table? With me teaching you?” After her admission about her father selling their family pool table, I knew she had her reasons for never wanting to play. But I wanted to show her that one bad experience should not ruin a potential lifetime of amazing ones. In my mind, I had visions of us having lazy Sundays making stupid bets who would win the next game. I’d had dirtier visions too, but I knew I was getting far too ahead of myself.
I gave her a cheeky nod. “Come on, I bet you fifty bucks I’ll get you sinking a ball.”
She quirked a brow, smirking. “Sinking a ball?”
Dirty girl.
She folded her arms, smirking at me. “You know I could just as easily miss and win this bet.”
A quick nod. “Well aware.” To me, this was no longer about the bet. It was about so much more. “How about I raise the stakes,” I countered, lowering my tone further.
She arched a brow. “Yeah?”
“Yeah.” I motioned to the pocket in the far corner. “If you can sink a ball into that pocket, the orgasms are all yours tonight.”
She pouted, her hand finding her hip. “Are you telling me you will forfeit your own just to get me to play pool with you?”
I grinned. “I am.”
She looked me square in the eyes.
A beat of silence.
Her amused stare flirted with mine. “Well shit. Looks like I’m learning to play pool.”
My heart gave a fist pump.
Lacing my fingers through hers, I ignored the chorus of exaggerated wolf whistles from the others.
“About bloody time,” Tyler joked.
