“We’ve seen our fair share of trouble, Lucien. We can handle it.” Mack moves his mouth away from the phone and mutters something to someone in the background who I assume is either Nova or one of the other reincarnated members of the Original Six. “Get on the plane, Lucien. Bring your girl here. We’ll figure it out.”

“Kim’s coming too,” I say firmly.

Mack doesn’t react to the news, just says, “See you soon, Lucien.”

On the plane, Luna is laying across the seats at the back and Kim is next to her.

I kneel beside them as the doors close and the engine starts to purr. “Is she alright?”

Kim strokes Luna’s hair with one hand and puts the other on my shoulder. “She’s alright. She just needs some rest.” He meets my eyes. “She might have something to say about us planning a secret evacuation to Phoenix Falls, though.”

“We had no idea how The Covenant would affect her. We couldn’t let her have the information. She’ll understand that.”

But I sound more confident than I feel.

We are half way across the Atlantic when she opens her eyes properly. “We’re on a plane?” she says, sitting up and pinching her nose.

Kim takes off his wonky glasses and nods at her. “We couldn’t stay.”

She leans over a little so she can look out of the window. “I’ve never been on a plane.”

Kim and I exchange an uncertain glance. “We couldn’t run through this part of the plan, Luna. Not because we didn’t trust you but because—”

Luna reaches out and puts a hand on each of our faces. “We had no idea what would happen. I understand.” She looks down at her arms, wriggles her fingers, then lets out an ironic laugh. “I’m sure I should be in more pain. Is it the shock?”

“I gave you some more blood,” I tell her. “Quite a lot more.”

“Oh,” she says, raising her eyebrows at me. “So, that’s why I’m feeling super turned on when we’re in the middle of fleeing for our lives.”

“I’m not sure we’re fleeing for our lives,” Kim says. “It’s more about needing to regroup somewhere less—” I elbow him in the ribs and he frowns at me. “What the fuck, Lucien?”

“Our girl just told us she’s super turned on, and you’re blathering on about the semantics of the situation.”

“Oh, I like that.” Luna smiles, standing up then sitting on Kim’s lap so she’s facing me. “Being your girl.” She leans back to kiss Kim, then me. “Both of you.”

I stand and take my clothes off. All of them, so I’m completely naked for them.

“Tell us what you need, kitten.”

Luna licks her lips, and as she opens her legs and motions for me to get in front of her, I swear the shadows outside the plane window start to lean closer.

Epilogue

The Covenant is gone. Cerberus is dead. I have lost everything. Except Lucien. And I am not done with him. I will find him. And I will finish this.
