‘Then why do you read Bollywood news if everything is so fake?’
‘Because at least they have pretty pictures.’
‘Forget it! … Hey, the maid has never cooked such delicious poha earlier.’
‘She didn’t. I did.’
‘Arré, why did you have to do it?’
‘I just felt like it. I have taught her how to cook, according to my taste.’
‘Whoa, that’s nice. Didn’t she ask you, “Didi, aap bhaiyya ke kaun hain?”’
‘She did.’
‘What did you tell her then?’
‘I told her the truth about us.’
‘Tell me a little bit about us, too.’
‘I asked the maid beforehand: has any Didi been here at Bhaiyya’s place before this?’
‘What did she say?’
‘She said they keep coming. Bhaiyya has quite a taste.’
‘Okay, what else did she say?’
‘“Didi, you’re the best, please don’t leave.”’
‘What did you say to that?’
‘I told her that I liked her too. Even if I dumped Bhaiyya, I would never leave her.’
‘You talked so much in your first meeting?’
‘Yeah, that’s how I roll. Now hustle, aren’t you getting late for work?’
‘I am getting late, but I don’t want to go.’
‘That must be the case for you every day.’
‘Yeah, but the reason is different today.’
‘What’s different today?’
‘The poha was really tasty today.’
‘What, yaar? At least you could have lied that since you’re here I don’t feel like going.’
‘I wanted to say that but couldn’t. I thought you’d get offended.’
‘90 per cent of guys in India keep procrastinating like that. They take corner seat tickets but can’t do anything. They just keep munching popcorn throughout the film.’
‘And the other 10 per cent?’
‘The 10 per cent are anyway useless. Actually, there are plenty more; I am giving you a discounted figure. See, I have a funda in life.’
