“That’s amazing, Wy,” I say, leaning my head back against his hand.

“It’s actually more than amazing,” Willa chimed in, standing up and stretching. She grabbed her glass from the table and walked over by the pool. “It means he can finally stop moping around the house and texting me about how he feels like shit because he just wants to play baseball.” She paused, looking between us. “I’m going to head by the pool, you two lovebirds take your time.”

She disappeared over by the pool, leaving the two of us alone.

“What were you two talking about?” he asked, his voice dropping. “It looked pretty serious.”

I look at the pool, then back at him. “Just catching up. Talk about how you talked about me with her.”

He stiffened for a second, his jaw tightening. He didn’t deny it. He didn’t make a joke. He just sat on the edge of the lounge chair, crowding space until I had no choice but to give him my full attention.

“I can’t lie,” he said. “When we were in Philly, I kind of just poured out my emotions and how I was feeling at the time, and I told her how I was afraid of screwing up again.”

He leaned in, his forehead resting against mine. “I really don’t want to screw this up again, El.”

“I trust your word, Wy,” I whispered. “My parents are a little on the edge about it. Dad wasn’t too keen on it, but he’s still got a lot of pent up frustration and disappointment held against you for it. He thinks you’re just going to leave me again.”

Wyatt pulled back just enough to grab my chin, forcing me to look at him. “I’m not leaving this time, Eliana.” He slides his hand from my neck to my cheek, his palms rough and warm. “I promise you, I’m not fucking this up again. When I’m back on the field on Sunday, I’m not playing because I want to be away from you. I’m playing so I can come home to you. While the game is my job, you’re my life.”

He kissed me then, a deep, slow promise he wasn’t letting go.

“You need to shower,” I murmured against his lips. “You smell like pine tar and sweat.”

“Yeah,” he grinned, that cocky, beautiful smirk on his lips. “But it’s not too bad. Come with me?”

I look at the pool, where Willa is laid out on a towel, soaking up the sun, then back at him. “You sure she’s going to be okay with it?”

“She’s a guest in our house, she’s going to have to deal with it.” Wyatt says before he picks me up, practically throwing me over his shoulder before he heads back inside.

When we got in the bathroom, Wyatt started up the shower, getting it nice and hot. He stripped off his clothes and looked back at me before getting in.

I stood by the vanity, still in my swimsuit as I looked at him. “Your sister is right downstairs, y’know. We’re supposed to be going to dinner.”

“Willa knows exactly what’s happening,” he rasped. He reached out, his hand wet and caught the front of my swimsuit top. “And dinner can wait.”

He pulled me into the shower, swimsuit and all. The water soaked through my suit, making it cling to my skin. I gasped as the heat hit my skin, but then Wyatt’s hands were on my waist, lifting me up against the wall.

“You make it really hard to focus when you’re wearing something like that,” he muttered, his mouth finding my neck. “How am I supposed to hold a conversation when I have a beautiful girl looking back at me?”

My hands found the back of his neck, my fingers tangling in his wet hair. Wyatt was growing impatient, his hand moving to my back and untied my top, tugging it off me and threw it over the door of the shower.

He kissed me, his hands moving over me with this sense of possessive hunger, tracing the length of my spine, the curve of my hips, pulling our bodies closer together.

I wrap my legs around his waist, trying to pull him even closer to me. My nails gently rake down his back as I feel him groan against my mouth, his hands holding underneath my thighs.

“I can’t start anything, because I don’t know if I am going to be able to stop,” he mutters against my mouth.

I pulled away from the kiss, unwrapping my legs from him and got off of him before I grabbed the body wash, handing it to him. “Great, so wash up and let’s go to dinner.” I tell him with a big grin on my face.

His eyes narrow at me as he takes his body wash from me. “Thanks for giving me mine – Liam didn’t like I smelled like whatever the fuck I used last time.”

I lather up my loofa with the body wash he was talking about and started to scrub my body. “I don’t get why he hates it, it smells fantastic.”

“Yeah, for a girl who wants to smell like lavender and shit. Not for a grown man who plays a professional sport with a bunch of other men that nine times out of ten smell like some form of expensive Gucci cologne.” Wyatt comments, rinsing off his body.

Once we got out of the shower, Wyatt wrapped a towel around me, pulling me back against his chest for one more kiss.

“No funny business at dinner,” he murmured.
