“You really wanna do this right now?” She whispers, her hands resting on my chest.
“Baby I’ve been away from you for too long, I don’t know if I can wait any longer.”
She leans down, pressing her smiling lips to mine once again. “I’m all yours for as long as you want me.”
Chapter 9
Wyatt
WHENEVER I NEEDED AN ESCAPE, the ballpark was there.
This place was a second home to me. It held a special place in my heart; This was the place I came to when I was a little kid, wishing I was the guy down on the field playing the game.
Now, I get to live that dream. I wonder what little Wyatt would think of me.
“Mitchell!”
I glanced up right in time to catch a fly ball drifting toward the infield. I snagged it out of the air before tossing it back to the mound.
“You’re lucky I was paying attention that time,” I called out to Liam.
He laughed from behind the plate. “What’s got you so distracted, all-star?”
I exhale a sharp sigh, adjusting my glove as I glanced over by the dugout. Eliana was standing there with some of the social team, looking like she belonged here.
This was what she was born to do. It was always her dream to work with the big guns and be able to show off her god-given talent.
Her hustle was admirable. She was dedicated to her craft, and it paid off.
She finally built that life she wanted.
I just wasn’t part of it anymore.
“Yo,” Liam bumped my shoulder. “How’s your new shadow?”
“She’s my social media manager.”
“Mhm, same thing,” Liam said. “Living with you, right?”
I shot him a look. “Yes. But let’s not go running around telling everyone that.”
He gave me a quick nod. “Noted. So, what? She just follows you around? Recording your every move?”
“If she tried that, I would fire her.”
Liam rolls his eyes at me. “You’re such a fucking liar. Even though you won’t admit it, you love the attention.”
“I actually love the opposite,” I say. “I would much rather be a hermit and be out of the spotlight.”
“Maybe play shitty baseball, then you’ll be out of the spotlight.”
I huff out a laugh. “If I did that, I’d have even more attention on me.” I adjust my hat. “She’s just doing her job.”
“Sure,” he said easily. “Still funny though.”
I look back at Eliana without meaning to.
“She seems cool,” Liam added after a beat.
