I cried harder. “You don’t love me.”

His eyes filled. “I fucking love you.”

“Then why didn’t you choose me?”

His face twisted. “It’s not that simple.”

“It never is with you.”

“Blair—”

“No.”

I wiped my face. “It’s actually really simple now. Ravenna knows, so the secret is gone. She even said I could have you.”

I saw panic rush to his face. “She said what?”

I laughed bitterly. “She said I can have you.”

Caleb stared at me.

“She doesn’t want you.”

His face fell. And God forgive me, but for one sick little second, hope bloomed in my chest. I had spent three years waiting for the obstacle to move, and it had finally moved itself. Maybe it was the moment. Maybe everything ugly that happened had finally pushed us to where we were supposed to be. Maybe now—

Caleb stood suddenly.

I blinked. “What are you doing?”

He looked around. “Where are my keys?”

My heart skipped. “What?”

“My keys.”

He started searching the table, the floor, and his pockets.

“Caleb.”

“Where the fuck—”

“They’re in your hand.”

He looked down and just stared at them. Then moved toward the door.

My stomach dropped. “Where are you going?”

No answer.

“Caleb.”

He kept moving.

“Where the fuck are you going?”

“Ravenna.”

I stopped. He said her name like I had ripped something out of him.
