My chest rose. I grabbed another and threw it. Then a candle. A picture frame. A ceramic bowl I had paid too much money for. Everything I could reach. Everything pretty. Everything fragile. Everything that could break because I needed something in that house to look the way I felt.

I screamed when another vase shattered. “FUCK!”

I grabbed one of the framed pictures from the shelf of Caleb and I. I stared at it then threw it across the room. The glass cracked against the wall and the frame fell face down.

“FUCK YOU!”

Another one.

“FUCK YOU!”

Another.

Years of memories exploding against the wall. I was back crying hard and ugly. Tears running down my face while I destroyed the home I had spent years imagining Caleb eventually moving into. The home I thought would become ours. The home with enough bedrooms for the babies we were supposedly going to have later. The home I had once stood inside imagining Christmas mornings and family dinners and his shoes by the door.

All of it was bullshit.

The front door unlocked. For a second, I didn’t understand what I was hearing. Then the door opened.

“Blair?”

Caleb. My entire body went hot.

He stepped inside. “Baby—”

His eyes moved across the room looking at the broken glass, pictures, flowers knocked over, my phone in pieces beneath the wall, and me standing barefoot in the middle of all of it with tears on my face.

“What the fuck happened?”

I laughed. “What happened?”

“Blair.”

He stepped farther inside. “Baby.”

I ran at him. My fists hit his chest before landing on his face.

“I HATE YOU!”

“Blair!”

I hit him again. “I HATE YOU!”

“Stop!”

“You LIED TO ME!”

My fists landed wherever they could. I didn’t care.

“I HATE YOU!”

Caleb caught one wrist and I swung with the other.

“You lied to me for YEARS!”

“I’m sorry!”

“FUCK YOUR SORRY!”
