Manners.
I was not going to act strangely just because the people of Earth were…unique.
They had definitely picked up odd habits from the humans of Earth.
Chapter 3
Shiloh
“Why are you hiding behind me?” Hugh was smart enough to know what I was doing and smart enough to keep staring ahead so that he wouldn’t draw attention to me.
I should’ve hidden behind Kaden.
He wouldn’t have noticed, so I wouldn’t have had to explain anything.
“Please don’t make me answer that.” I’d gotten to know him well enough to be able to talk to him without panicking, but not enough to be able to explain ridiculous things without panicking.
It was a fine line I hated walking.
“Is there something wrong with you?” He barely paused before shifting into lecturing me. “You should’ve had the panic attack about coming to another planet before we left our planet.”
He was kind of weird for someone who kept insisting they were boring.
“Um, not technically and I’m not having a panic attack.” His huff said he didn’t like my answers. “I’m fine.”
As long as his definition of fine was flexible.
“No, you’re not.” He didn’t seem to be as flexible as my family when it came to that kind of stuff. “Do you need a doctor or Toman?”
Great ancestors above.
“No. Neither.” I managed to get the word out quickly, but I was so nervous my voice squeaked even though I was trying to be nearly silent. “Um, thank you.”
“Try again…and this time explain what’s going on.” His voice got a Dom tone I wasn’t sure he’d appreciate me pointing out.
There was no way he was as boring as he claimed to be.
“Um, well.” I really should’ve made a better decision about who to hide behind. He was just so tall and broad it’d seemed like an easy choice. Easy was not better. I should’ve known that. “It seems kind of like…well…um…”
I should’ve gotten credit for trying but my stumbling answer got another sigh from him. I had every intention of trying again but he beat me to it. “Fates be damned. You too?”
He really was smarter than everyone thought.
“Yeah.” I just wasn’t sure how it’d happened. “Um, and there’s two.”
Two.
At least I was pretty sure there were two, and there was no point in hiding that because it’d come out sooner or later.
“I’m taking it that they haven’t noticed you yet?” Hugh’s tone was still even but some of the frustration had faded.
“I think they’re both very distracted and that’s working in my favor.” Eventually they’d stop freaking out over the whole the aliens from another planet were kinky thing.
I’d thought I was screwed when we’d all been herded into what was basically a large conference room to start getting to know us better and eventually show us to our rooms. Professor Zorin still seemed to be taking in all the information he’d just gained, so I’d gotten a short reprieve, but it seemed like the fates had a terrible sense of humor.
How did I have two mates?
“You’re trying to remain unnoticed? By your mates?” His thoughts on that were obvious but he didn’t exactly spell them out as he shifted to make sure he was blocking my mates’ lines of sight. “What is your goal here?”
