His logic was always questionable, even when he was teasing.
“I think we’re going to need to come up with consequences for our naughty boy.” He was also our giggly boy but we had to behave as others passed us in the hall and studied our silly mate with wide-eyed confusion.
As we finally made it to Zorin’s quarters, Shiloh was smiling in what they called an ear-to-ear grin. “I don’t think people here are ever going to get used to seeing the aliens laughing.”
“Probably not but at least they seem to enjoy watching you?” I was not going to pretend it would be an easy flight to reach that point, but the trip should be interesting. “I have also been contacted by people from my…village is probably the best English word…but they would like to know when they can come meet your people.”
“Oh.” Blinking oddly, Shiloh did not realize we were approaching our room until we stopped because he looked around and radiated confusion. “I hadn’t thought about that.”
How?
“You do not have to meet anyone.” Our boy’s worries immediately pushed Zorin into Daddy mode as Wren had called it. “You are doing a very good job of explaining Earth and the country of America you call your United States and that is enough.”
Agreed.
“But I’m supposed to help the families and…well…I don’t know what I’m supposed to do, but I can do it.” Shiloh’s earnest need to fulfill his duties pushed back his fear. “I’ll be fine.”
That was debatable.
Zorin looked like he was going to immediately rush to insist Shiloh did not have to do anything he was uncomfortable with, but that was not reasonable. Our mate had a great responsibility that had been placed on him and had to be handled carefully.
So before our worried caretaker could do his reassurances, I spoke and attempted to sound like my suggestion was perfectly rational. “Then we will come up with a plan that is manageable for you. One of us will always be with you and we will help with the organization as well. Zorin loves telling people what to do and managing schedules.”
“And information. Don’t forget that.” Zorin’s serious response was funnier than he seemed to understand. Shiloh’s giggles had him frowning and glancing back to me. “I am the perfect mate to help him organize what information needs to be provided.”
He was somehow correct and hilarious…and frustrating.
“You are.” He was also the perfect mate when it came to distracting our shy worrier. “But now we need to make sure he gives us appropriate attention and has consequences for his behavior.”
Thankfully, Zorin was able to switch back to our play topic and frowned exaggeratedly. “I did not get stories. He has stories from the original time after the gate closed. He had funny stories and I was not the first to get them.”
The pout was what seemed to have Shiloh fighting to keep what he called a straight face. Giggles were coming through the bond but he was doing his best to look serious as I let us into Zorin’s quarters. “You’re…you’re right, Daddy. I’m sorry.”
His expression needed work to be believable but the cheek kiss he gave Zorin started weakening our frustrated mate. “Well, I—”
“Have not gotten nearly enough of an apology. I know.” Shaking my head, I tried to look sad about the situation as we went inside and I engaged the privacy screen. “Let us go sit down and see how we will handle it.”
Both of my mates needed distractions and to reinforce our bond. Shiloh needed reassurance that nothing had changed and Zorin needed to see that our mate had a great destiny but that the weight was not too much to bear.
So it was time for cuddles, attention, and Shiloh’s first spanking as a mate.
Chapter 21
Shiloh
Oh.
I.
Well, I probably should’ve told them a few stories just to be nice…they were my mates and Daddy would love to hear about the cake catastrophe.
Oh, Master would love hearing about the mage who wanted to build houses. He’d love hearing how the shortcuts always caused problems. Master didn’t like shortcuts…Daddy said so.
And I…I’d like telling them the toy stories and about the naughty dragons. Even if the people here liked to pretend they were good, we’d always made terrible decisions.
“I…” Master distracted me by leading us into Daddy’s bedroom. “I’ll make up for it. Yes. I’ll tell you stories.”
I had lots and they were all filed in my head like a big mental library.
