Someone had made the attempt at being helpful and telling him how he should behave.

I was smarter than that but not everyone was as intelligent as I was.

Chapter 14

Raxius

I was starting to understand why he had guarded his rooms so closely. Our Earth mate had toys everywhere. From the kitchen to the bed, each surface had some kind of decoration or was being used for a project. He seemed to be painting in the kitchen, using the table for some kind of art with small sparkly gems, there was fabric on the couch, and the bed was covered in stuffed animals.

The people of Earth found predators to be highly worthy of cuddling.

“Wren helped me make my stuff fit.” Shiloh started wandering from one project to the next. “I got to bring all my stuff. I had to, so he made it fit in one bag.”

All the things he labeled as stuff or all his things?

“I got most of my cute clothes in my bag still. I ran out of room here.” That seemed to be sad but unavoidable if I was reading the emotions and faint thoughts coming through the bond correctly. “Oh, and lots of my boring clothes and grown-up stuff are still there too.”

Questions were piling up in my head but it seemed like Zorin was in worse shape judging by the few that had already escaped through the bond. He was doing his best to keep them in check, as they said in English, but he did not like it.

“You have many wonderful things.” And it seemed like he wanted to show them all off based on the way he kept gesturing to them as he wandered around. “What are these?”

Pointing to the table got a wide smile from our little Earth mate. “My diamonds, Master. I make pictures. They sparkle. I brought lots just in case I got stuck here.”

Ah.

It hadn’t occurred to any of us to send Toman through with every object he owned just in case, but maybe it was one of the differences we had grown to have?

Was it possibly a little versus big issue?

“What else did you bring lots of?” Everything seemed to be the answer as he bounced and dragged me over to the kitchen counter. “You have paints.”

They looked messy.

“You can use your fingers with this paint, but I got the brush kind and the water kind too.” Smiling and bouncing, he released my hand and ran over to drag his Daddy closer. “I’ll show you. I got lots. I can share.”

“You brought lots because you thought you would get stuck?” Zorin seemed to think that was the best place to start and I had to agree with him. I also approved of the gentle tone he asked the question in. “That must have been scary.”

Again, a good point but Shiloh shook his head as he held up a tiny clear container of red paint. “No. I just knew. It’s my job.”

His job?

“Look, Daddy.” His mind seemed to jump to another topic as soon as he put the paint down. “Look at what big me did.”

Was it supposed to sound like he was two different people?

“What did you do?” Willingly letting our mate change the topic must have been difficult for Zorin, but I knew Shiloh would not have been able to tell from the tone. “Is it naughty? I’m still watching for that. I think you’re going to shock me.”

No, but our mate would probably confuse him.

Laughter burst out of our little Earthling, but he shook his head as he thought the question was hilarious. “No, silly. That’s for big me to show Master.”

When?

Zorin scoffed. “I think you mean that big Shiloh will wait for his Master to run out of patience and look for it himself.”

That was so funny and so accurate Shiloh collapsed against Zorin as he giggled. “I…that’s…”

Whatever he was going to say was too difficult to get out, but it felt like he was agreeing if I was understanding the feelings coming through the bond correctly. Zorin realized that as well because he made the sigh sound. “Do you think we need a limit around personal possessions? If we do, that would mean your Master would have to ask you for permission to look at your stuff.”
