“Answering my specific questions would provide more information.” Zorin sounded like he wanted to shrug even though he wasn’t giving off that many emotional clues. “However, I have agreed to comply with the decisions that were made.”

Raxius actually sighed.

He sighed.

“Only because you demanded to be the first to greet them at the gate.”

As I tried to decide if laughing would’ve been rude or appropriate, Zorin shifted topics and did his best to smile at me. “I will show you how to enter your space.”

Okay, yeah probably time for that since we’d been standing in the weirdly blank-looking hallway too long.

They really needed paintings or more color…wallpaper, maybe?

He was watching me…verbal response…yes.

“Thank you.” Ha. Did it.

Sir?

Daddy?

He didn’t seem like a Master.

I’d met a sub once that used Captain instead of Daddy and he’d done this cute little salute but neither of my mates seemed like the Captain type. They were barely past the “hey you” phase, so we needed to start somewhere more logical for them.

Zorin was either easily pleased or didn’t understand my mental debate because he gave me another smile. “You are welcome.”

Then he had to get a dig in at Raxius. “That is the appropriate response.”

Whatever he was…being a brat was definitely part of it.

“You only obtained the language two hours before me.” Raxius was still but something had me imagining him shaking in frustration. “You are not an expert because you demanded answers to more questions.”

Zorin didn’t agree.

After a moment he very clearly cocked his head and then shrugged. “Yes, I am.”

Part of me found the whole thing ridiculously funny in a weird way but another was ready for them to pretend to be nice again. I’d never planned on living through the enemies-to-lovers trope, and it was getting stressful.

If this was enemies to lovers like the books the dragons back in town liked, when would my mates get to the steamy sex scene part of their arc?

As I realized I should’ve read more of Lorne’s dirty books, I paid attention as Zorin showed me the symbol next to my door that was basically the number for my room. I managed to open it on the first try but I’d never seen a locking system that only worked by magic.

“I’ve always carried around keys. This is nice.” My apartment was nice too. “Wow, everything is magic.”

I should’ve realized how much magic they would use in everyday situations but it just hadn’t occurred to me. I’d spent most of my life living around humans in regular apartments, so this was weird. Cool, but weird.

“How does this work?” There were panels on the walls and a space with empty countertops that had to be a kitchen, but nothing looked the same.

My mates had gone strangely still as they watched me start looking around the apartment but they sprang back to life before it got weird watching me marvel over silly things. As always, Zorin had to go first. “I can demonstrate how to use them for you, but Raxius would be better at explaining their detailed functions and answering questions on how things are made.”

Hey, that was actually nice.

Practical questions equaled nice?

I could do that.

Eventually we had to figure out other stuff, right?
