Her brows furrowed and she cocked her head. “I guess you didn’t enjoy the cupcake.”
“Didn’t eat it.”
Her eyes widened. “Then why did you take it?”
Jekyll could’ve brushed it off or changed the subject.
“’Cause you made it for me.” He paused. “I don’t like chocolate but I liked you.”
Her eyes softened and she inched closer, sliding her arm around his waist. “I’ll make you vanilla cupcakes next time.”
Jekyll pulled her against his chest, smiling. Too fucking sweet.
“Let’s get outta here.”
Jekyll had planned for another hour or two on the bike, then they’d head back to her place. They were halfway across the lot when his phone rang. He picked up on the second ring.
“Yeah?”
“You in Lawry?” Cross asked.
“No, took a ride.”
“How close are you from Satan’s clubhouse?”
Ironically, they weren’t far.
“About fifteen minutes.”
“Need you here now.”
He glanced down at Imogene.
“Can’t get anyone else?”
“No, and just so we’re clear, I’m not asking. This is an order.”
It was the worst timing but Jekyll always showed up for the club.
“Alright.” He tapped the screen, tucked his phone in his pocket, and grabbed her hand, leading her back to his bike. “Gotta make a stop and meet up with Cross.”
“Okay.” She squeezed his hand. “Am I coming with you?”
Unfortunately, yes. The last place he’d want to bring her was the Satan’s clubhouse, but he didn’t have a choice. Lawry was too far away to drop her off and Cross needed him.
“Yeah.”
He’d been off on his estimation due to construction, and they arrived at the clubhouse twenty-five minutes later. Jekyll parked on the street and walked up the driveway.
To his surprise, there were quite a few brothers standing with Cross. It was more than enough to cover a meeting with the Satan’s. Why the fuck do you need me?
As they got closer to the group, Cross glanced over his shoulder, and his eyes landed on Imogene.
“You brought her?”
“Had her with me.” Jekyll narrowed his gaze. “You didn’t give me much of a fucking choice. You needed me, and I’m here. We’re an hour out from her place, and I’m not dropping her off alone anywhere in this piece of shit town, Cross.”
“Hey Imogene,” Hyde said, and she waved.
