“Of course.”

“I’m serious. I’ve done it before.”

“Recently?”

She pauses with the hair tie between her fingers. “Not recently.”

I grin.

“But that doesn’t mean anything. It’s a big divisional trip, and I’m being a supportive daughter.”

“Very convincing.”

She finishes her ponytail and turns around. “You’re making fun of me now, but when my dad figures this out because you can’t stop looking at me, you’re going to regret it.”

“I can control myself for twenty minutes.”

Her eyes drop pointedly to the bed behind me.

Right.

“Bad example.”

She laughs and grabs her bag. “But seriously, once we get there, we’re not together. Don’t touch me. Don’t come over unless you have a reason. And definitely don’t call me Peachy.”

“I know.”

“My dad notices everything.”

“I’ll behave.”

She gives me a look that says she has very little faith in that promise. “And stop smiling at me like that.”

“Like what?”

“Like you’re thinking about last night.”

Well.

Now I am.

Her eyes narrow. “See?”

“I didn’t do anything.”

“Your face did.”

I pull on my other shoe. “I’ll work on my face.”

“Please do.”

She grabs her keys while I reach for my duffel. “I’ll drop you off, then go get Pickles from Jordan’s. I have his spare key here.”

“Sounds good.”

The drive to the airport is quiet, but it’s the good kind. Quinn rests her hand on the console between us, and after a few minutes, I run my fingertips over hers.

She turns her hand over and laces our fingers together.
