I grab a hold of a fistful of her hair, and I kiss her hard. She moans against my lips, then opens her mouth to me. My tongue invades the sweetness of her mouth. She grinds against me in frenzied, uncontrolled movements.

Her hands move from my ass to my shoulders and then back to my ass. She’s so damn wild and turned on that it pushes me past the point of excitement. I drive into her again and again and again. I know I’m going too fast, too rough, but her heated moans and cries of pleasure are spurring me on. I can’t slow down. I don’t want to slow down.

Her fingernails are digging into my back, and the sharp sting only further excites me.

“You feel so damn good. I can’t take much more,” I groan as red-hot pleasure surges through my veins.

Jess’s eyes meet mine, and the connection is so real. So right. She’s close, and so am I, but I try to hold off so I can savor the moment of us being together for the first time.

I hear groaning and realize it’s me making the noise. I feel her pussy clenching me tightly, and I know she’s close to her climax. Her body throbs around me as I drive into her again. Hard. Fast. I bury myself in her again and again until . . .

Pure ecstasy.

My body shudders and tightens, my toes curl, and I hear myself yell out. After a final thrust, I lean back to take some of the weight off Jess.

The silence that follows in the room is only broken by the sounds of our heavy breathing. Not willing to put distance between us yet, I fall to my side and pull her to me. Holy fuck, that was intense.

I can hear Jess’s breathing beside me. She’s having trouble coming back down from that incredible high, just as I am. I know I should say something. I just don’t know what to say. Talking to women has always been easy, but Jess is not like other women. I get the feeling that she’ll call bullshit to anything I say.

I’m loath to break away from her, but I need to visit the bathroom. Besides, it might be best to escape for the time being and give myself time to think after what just happened.

I kiss her shoulder, then scoot out of bed, not bothering to grab any clothes, and head for the bathroom. I look back at Jess, and she has her eyes half-closed.

“You look like you’re ready to go to sleep. I’ll allow a nap, but I’m not done with you yet,” I tell her as I walk away.

Jess laughs lightly. “If you think this means we’re going to have sex anytime you want it, you can just forget it. I’m not one of your women you keep on the side. This was a momentary lapse. Not gonna happen again.”

I just look at her for a second, trying to decide if she’s being funny. The answer is clear. She’s not joking.

Why the hell is this woman so damn difficult?

“If that’s what you want to keep telling yourself, go for it,” I say with a shrug. “You know it’s going to happen again, probably in about thirty minutes.”

“I’m serious, Dax. This was a one-time thing.”

“That’s supposed to be my line,” I throw back over my shoulder.

“I hate you,” I hear her mumble as I close the bathroom door.

I pop my head back out and tell her, “With that attitude, you can forget the lap dance I was going to give you later.”

I see her grabbing a pillow, so I duck back in and lock the door behind me.

I’m trying to keep my banter with her lighthearted and easygoing. I’m afraid if I tell her what I’m really thinking, she’ll run as fast as she can. She’s like a compulsion, and I’m a little scared of how much she invades my every thought. But at the same time, fuck, I really like her. The fact that she claims to hate me doesn’t deter me in the slightest. I fully intend for us to enjoy ourselves over the next couple of weeks.

Hate me? Yeah right.

Her poker face isn’t as good as she thinks it is. I can see right through her. She’s as hot for me as I am for her. However, I’m not some lame-ass romantic, and I know she’s just a temporary distraction for me. It’s the buildup from wanting her for so long that has made this so incredible. I’ve been thinking about her since my brother’s wedding months ago, and now that I have her, she’s as spectacular as I thought she’d be.

Doesn’t mean I’m looking for a long-term relationship with her. Two or three weeks is perfect. She won’t get attached to me, and I won’t get attached to her. The more I think about this arrangement, the more it makes sense. I just have to get her to see it the same way.

Three weeks with her, max. That’s all I need.

Yeah, right. Three weeks isn’t going to be enough, and you know it. Who do you think you’re kidding, dumbass?

When I get back to the bed, Jess is curled up on her side with her eyes closed. The lights are off, and the room is dark except for the moonlight filtering through the sheer curtains. She seems to be peacefully sleeping, but I know that’s a big lie. She’s probably waiting to see what I’m going to say about the wall of pillows she’s erected in the middle of the bed.

I can’t help but chuckle at the sight as I slip into my side of the bed.
