“You’re not even one of those.” He smirks.
“Our girl would disagree with you there.”
He glances at me out of the corner of his eye, but I don’t miss the soft smile that appears at the mention of Chloe.
“Let me run with this new theory, and I’ll see if we can have the box transferred to another facility. I’d rather not drag her across the country right now.”
“Agreed. Until we have eyes on Salvatore and Mikayla, I think we should stick together.”
I push myself to my feet and move back toward the living room.
I have a book to read if I want to make my girl’s fantasies come true.
CHAPTER THIRTY-FOUR
CHLOE
NOW
Sex should be the last thing on my mind right now.
Not only was I shot and almost died a week ago, but we’re currently on the run from multiple people that want us dead.
It’s hardly the time for my libido to kick into gear, and yet all I can think about is climbing my guys like a goddamn tree.
It doesn’t help that there’s not much to do here other than read, and my preference has always been and will always be romance.
What can I say? I’m a sucker for a love story. And it doesn’t hurt when there’s multiple male characters wanting the same woman.
Closing my Kindle, I glance over at the other couch and find Damon staring at me through icy blue eyes. He finally fell asleep a few hours ago, and the house has been almost completely silent ever since, like we all knew how badly he needed to rest now his mind finally accepted that we were safe.
Dark shadows wash over the house as night falls over the beach. I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of this place.
I have no idea what’s next for any of us, or even if we’ll survive to have a future, but if we do, I want to ask Kingston if we can come here regularly. If it’s this beautiful as winter approaches, I can’t imagine how beautiful the summer will be.
“You okay, Duchess?” His brows pinch together as his eyes move over my face. “You’re looking a little flushed.”
Ryker chuckles from the table, making me startle. I should have assumed he was nearby given how little he lets me out of his sight, but despite his size, he moves like a cat and scares me far more often than I would like to admit.
“That’s because she’s been reading about a girl being railed by four guys for the last few hours.”
If I thought my cheeks were warm before, they’re on fire now. I have no idea how Ryker knows what I’ve been reading, but it’s doing very little for the ache in my core.
It doesn’t seem to matter how hard I’ve tried to reason with my body about why sex is a bad idea right now, my center throbs for them.
The pain is all but gone, only occasionally pinching if I move in a weird way but even that barely registers now, and as the pain fades, the more my need for my guys grows.
Ronan chuckles above me, and I glance up to see his face illuminated by the laptop. “I have to admit, some of those scenes were hot as fuck. I found myself reading along with you more than concentrating.”
“Maybe our girl needs a punishment for distracting you,” Ryker suggests, moving closer to the couch until his huge frame is towering over the back.
“What do you think, D?” Ronan looks over to his brother, who’s now sitting up. His pupils are blown as they track the tattooed hand gliding up the inside of my throat. “Do you think Chloe deserves a punishment or a reward?”
Nerves flutter in my stomach as I wait for him to reply. Not because either option makes me anxious, but because we’re still finding our way after years of resentment. The last thing I want to do is push him when he’s not a willing participant.
“Definitely a punishment,” he finally says, and my heart just about leaps from my chest.
Maybe I fell asleep, because surely this is a dream.
