"No." He presses his lips to my hair. "This was a slow week."
I laugh, and I feel his smile against the top of my head.
I settle deeper into his arms. "You know, as far as arranged marriages go, I'd give this one four stars."
"Only four?"
"You did let me get kidnapped."
"Rescued within eight hours."
"Fine. Four and a half." I tilt my head back to look at him. "Don't let it go to your head."
"Too late." He tips my chin up, and his eyes are soft in a way the rest of the world will never get to see. "You were the only deal I ever made where I got more than I paid for."
"Look at you being romantic."
"Must be your influence."
"So I am a good influence on you."
"Terrible," he murmurs against my lips. "The worst thing that ever happened to me."
And then my husband kisses me like I'm the best thing in the world.
EPILOGUE - SUNNY
Eight months later
There are five people sitting at my dining table, and every single one of them has threatened to kill someone at some point in their life.
Except my dad.
Actually, no. My dad once threatened to kill a plumber for ripping us off, so five for five.
But this is my family.
And in the last nine months, they have become everything to me.
"Pass the bread," John Marco says, reaching across Tommy's plate like a barn animal.
"There's a basket right in front of you," Tommy says.
"Yeah, but I want that one."
"It's the same bread."
"It's a different piece."
"They were baked together. In the same oven. At the same time."
"And yet." John Marco takes the roll off Tommy's plate, bites into it, and grins. "This one tastes like victory."
Tommy looks at Dante. "I infiltrated the bratva for you people, and this is the thanks I get. Oh, the disrespect."
“Oh, here we go,” John Marco teases. “I infiltrated the bratva for you, so you owe me the last cookie. I risked my life for you, so you can’t possibly say no to me.”
Tommy’s grin is big and unapologetic. “Damn straight. It’s basically a get-out-of-jail-free card.”
