"How's this?"
"You're doing good, Sunny."
I close my eyes.
The door opens.
I don't look up. I already know it's Anton.
I hear a sharp snap of fingers. "He's on his way. I need you with me. Leave her. After we've killed him, you can have her as a reward. Do what you want with her."
"Looking forward to it," Flynn says.
I hear their footsteps move away, and the door closes.
I let out a shaky breath, and to control my racing heart, I think back to the penthouse and all the memories I’ve made in the short time I’ve been there. I think about the night I made the terrible cannelloni and how my husband told me he’d turn my fake moans into real ones if I ever tried to fake them again. I think about Charles showing me how to make the perfect lasagna, and the pride I saw in his small smile when it turned out perfectly. And I think about lying in bed with Dante, naked and warm, as he strokes my hair and murmurs softly into the back of my head.
I’m going to survive this.
Because I have so much to live for, and I am not letting Anton take that away from me.
I look at the gun in my hand, knowing I am ready to use it now if I have to. Because I am no longer half in this world. I am all the way, balls to the wall, in this world now. It’s where I belong.
I let out another heavy breath and brace myself.
My husband is on his way.
People are about to die.
And this time, I'm not unarmed.

DANTE
Anton reaches inside his hideous suit jacket for his gun, but I shoot him in the kneecap before he can get to it.
The sound Anton makes isn't human as he crashes to the floor. His hands clutch his shattered kneecap, and blood pours between his fingers.
"Flynn!" he screams, saliva and sweat streaming down his face. "What the fuck are you doing? Fucking shoot them, you dumb fuck."
Flynn crouches next to him so they’re eye level, and a big grin spreads across his face.
"Have you not figured it out yet, you fucking twat?" he says, his Irish accent full of amusement. He’s been waiting eighteen months for this, and I’m sure he’s enjoying it.
Anton's eyes bulge. "What the fuck are you talking about?"
Flynn gestures with his gun toward Sunny and me. "I'm with them."
Anton shakes his head. His eyes frantic and disbelieving.
"Tommy Gallagher. At your service." Tommy’s grin widens.
Anton’s gray face drains of even more color. “Mudak.”
Flynn leans closer. "Who's the dumb fuck now?"
Anton grits his teeth. “You fucking pizda.”
