“You got them to show it just for us?”

Why his gesture meant so much to me I wasn’t sure, but it touched me that he’d gone through so much trouble for our first date.

“I did.”

I leaned over and kissed the side of his mouth, inhaling his scent.

“Thank you,” I whispered. “Best first date ever.”

Vaughan’s response was to kiss me back until I was all but panting. He pulled away, a knowing smirk on his face, and surprised me by lifting me to sit between his legs. He bent his knees and had me flush against his hard chest. It was the most homelike place to be.

The movie started playing on the giant screen and every now and then I would spout off random facts, and rather than be annoyed with my interruptions, Vaughan indulged my child-like enthusiasm.

“Did you know the actors fell asleep on set while they were filming? It was so hot in the upstairs part of the library that they passed out.”

“Did you know Judd Nelson was an absolute asshole to Molly Ringwald even when they weren’t filing? Apparently he was a method actor and wanted to stay in character.”

“Did you know that Molly Ringwald was John Hughes’ muse throughout the 80’s and even had someone fired from the movie.”

“Did you know they considered Nicolas Cage and John Cusack for the role of Bender? Personally I think Judd Nelson was the better choice. He was so badass.”

Vaughan had laughed at that one and by the time the end credits came around I’d fallen asleep with my head on his chest, his steady heartbeat drawing me in deeper and deeper until it was his face filling my dreams.
