"I’ll just stay with Hannah tonight. Give you some room to work."

"The woman who left this morning?" I ask.

"Yeah. We get together when I’m in town." He grins. "She’ll probably appreciate not having to walk past you two carrying her bra again."

"Keeping it in the bedroom would help," Wolf says.

"I’ll pass that along." Rooks turns to me. "I’ll pick up the cupcakes tomorrow afternoon. Thanks, Baylor."

"You’re welcome."

With the first tray in the oven, I prop my tablet beside my notebook and put on Couple's Cove while I measure the ingredients for the next batch.

Wolf comes around behind me with his coffee, then stops.

"What the hell are you watching?"

"Couple's Cove."

He looks at the screen instead of me. "Hold on. Is that woman crying over the guy in the pool?"

"Yes."

"The one kissing somebody else?" He points at the screen.

"That would be why she’s crying."

"Isn’t she right there? He can see her."

"He knows."

I weigh the sugar while he stands behind my stool. On-screen, the guy climbs out of the pool and reaches for a towel.

Wolf lowers his mug without taking a drink.

"Please tell me she’s not going over there."

"She’s going over there."

"Oh, for fuck’s sake."

"You don’t have to watch."

He pulls out the stool beside mine and sits.

The guy drops his towel and pulls on his shorts.

"How do these people manage to dress themselves?"

I look over my shoulder. "What?"

"He put his shorts on backward."

I glance at the screen. He did. Unfortunately, pointing that out seems to encourage Wolf.

"Does she know?"

"About the shorts or the other woman?"
