“I found something,” I announced, looking up from the screen as he approached.
Ezra stopped beside my chair, his attention shifting to the tablet. “Show me.”
I turned the screen toward him, explaining the square footage, the asking price, and what the previous owner had already put into the space. He leaned over my shoulder to look, close enough that I lost my place for half a second.
“What’s the catch?” he asked, studying the listing.
“I haven’t seen it in person yet.” I pulled up the floor plan, pointing toward the different sections. “But look at this. We could keep the main bar here, use this side for sections, and still have enough room for staff to move without fighting through customers.”
His gaze shifted from the screen to me, his expression thoughtful. “You called somebody?”
“The agent. He can meet us at eleven,” I answered, watching him glance at the time.
Ezra glanced at his watch, then straightened. “Get your things.”
After a walkthrough and going over the charts and numbers, we confirmed the building was exactly what Vice needed in Miami. Ezra put in an offer, then had Yara working the numbers and paperwork to get the deal done.
I was still smiling when we got back to the hotel.
“Don’t get comfortable,” he told me as we reached the elevators. “We have a meeting tonight.”
My smile faded as I turned toward him. “Another one?”
“Seven thirty. Meet me downstairs,” he instructed, looking entirely too comfortable with giving me half the information.
“What kind of meeting?” I pressed, trying to read his expression.
He looked down at me, mouth barely lifting. “Your wardrobe’s handled.”
That answered absolutely nothing.
Apparently a successful morning hadn’t earned me the right to know where my own ass was going. I watched him step into the elevator, fighting the urge to tell him a calendar invitation would work just fine.
A garment bag arrived at my room an hour later, followed by a box containing shoes. I unzipped the bag and stared.
The dress was red. A deep, rich red, with a halter neckline that plunged almost to my waist. Oversized fabric roses curved down one side of the opening, and the fitted skirt fell all the way to the floor. Even on the hanger, it looked like something a man sent when he wanted to spend the night staring.
I called Ashlynn and put her on speaker while I stepped into it.
“Girl, he sent me a dress,” I told her, still trying to figure out what kind of meeting required something like this.
“Who? Ezra?” Her voice perked up immediately. “Let me see.”
I switched to video and propped the phone against the mirror, backing up so she could see the red fabric settling over my hips.
Ashlynn leaned toward her camera, her eyes widening before a knowing smile spread across her face. “Oh, he got plans.”
“He said we have a meeting,” I reminded her, looking between my reflection and the phone.
“With who? Your titties?” she asked, looking entirely too pleased with herself.
“Ashlynn!” I laughed, adjusting the neckline. “Be serious.”
“I am serious,” she insisted, still grinning. “Ain’t no business meeting require all that.”
I turned sideways, smoothing a hand over the skirt. The dress hugged my waist and hips without bunching, the roses framing skin I wasn’t used to having out in front of my boss.
“What if somebody else is there?” I asked, glancing at her through the mirror.
