“I didn’t give it to you, sweetie,” I lightly smiled.

“Bitch, don’t call me sweetie like I’m some child.”

“Bitch? Did I bother you by asking where Law was at? I didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers. One thing your little ass won’t do is disrespect me. Now, if I wanted to, I’ll have Ms. Mae put your ass out because one thing she don’t play about is customer service. Shit, you should know that, being you do lashes and all. You just lost a potential client.” I walked off before I had to drag her raggedy ass.

She just stood there waiting for me to walk out the door. Now that she was wondering why the fuck I mentioned her nigga name, I could go get my hair done and wait for him to say something to me. I heard through the hood that he didn’t like for females to approach his girl on no bullshit.

At the hair salon, I was able to get right in the chair. That was because I let my cousin do my hair. She was up and coming, and people weren’t quite used to using her yet, but I knew she was a secret weapon on them lace fronts. She had just moved to Savannah from South Carolina. Before she started buzzing, I had to solidify my spot. She was new to the area, and the girls in the shop gave her a hard time because she really didn’t have any clients but me and three others.

“I made this wig, but the only person that I could think of to wear it is you,” my cousin Janine said.

“Now it better be no ugly shit. Let me see it, and I want to see it on the mannequin head too.”

She raced to the back and came back with a wig that was curled and styled already. It was a tint of my favorite color, burgundy with a tint of pink. I touched it and ran my fingers through the curls and watched it bounce right back.

“Let’s do it,” I told her.

When she got done, she had all the hoes around her station trying to figure out how she got the color like that and how she laid the lace so it wouldn’t show. All I could do was look at her through the mirror as she continued to ignore them and work on me. I dug in my purse and paid my cousin more than she charged.

“I’ll see you in a few weeks. I’ll be sending you some business too.”

“Thank you, cuz.”

“Oh, and here.” I dug in my purse. “Bring your ass to my party in two weeks. I’ll need you to come up with something for this head of mine.”

“I got you.”

Nails done, hair done, and I was now feeling like my old self. I rounded the corner to my car and ran into Law loading his car with bags. I walked up on him and tapped him right on his ass. There was no shame in my game.

“What the fuck?”

“I see you driving your girl’s car and she driving yours.”

“What’s wrong with that? Ain’t that what couples do?”

“Oh, nothing. I stopped by the restaurant to see if you were going to come to my party and she was there giving me the eye because I mentioned your name. We ended up having a few words but I walked off because I could tell she was ready to swing at any moment.”

“I play about a lot of shit, but don’t mention me to my girl like we fucking. I don’t need issues where I lay my fucking head.”

“Trust me, if we were fucking I wouldn’t be after you. You’ll be chasing me.”

“I’ght Pinkie, I gotta go.”

“Will I see you at the party?” I stopped him from closing the door on me.

“I’ll talk to my girl about it. Watch out so I can close my door.”

I stepped back and blew him a kiss. I could see him shaking his head at me as he backed up and pulled off. Law had a look in his eyes that let me know he would give me the dick if I kept begging for it. Men always fell weak because they were weak when it came to women chasing them. It gave them some type of feeling. I planned on chasing him until he was in my bed, giving me that dick in every position.

6. LAW

Pinkie was trouble if I ever saw it. She was a fine ass dark-skinned woman with dimples, baby doll eyes, and a pretty smile. That red hair that she wore only added to her beauty. She didn’t have to try hard to be fine. Her stomach was tight, thighs nice and thick, and that ass was to die for. I pressed the gas harder to get further away from her before I turned around. I could still smell her sweet ass perfume in my nose as I got to the red light.

I never had a bitch chase me like Pinkie did. It was always me going after what I wanted. That’s what made me stay away from her. Something about the way she came at me seemed like it was an agenda. Women were so brave now that they didn’t care about a nigga having a woman. It made me feel good, but I promised Summer that as long as she was with me, she would never have to worry about another woman.

We had our issues in the very beginning of our relationship, but I grew up quick once I noticed that Summer would leave my ass. I couldn’t see myself being with someone else since I encountered her. After getting over our hump, we’ve been great and I want to keep it that damn way.

I was headed to see Lj before he went to therapy. All the bags I was putting in the trunk belonged to him. We hadn’t really talked since the incident because he was still pretty out of it. Today, I was hoping we could have a conversation. The bullet I put in the nigga with the cards is not the same person who pulled the trigger on Lj. The shit happened so fast that I don’t know what or who it was. All we both knew was the nigga was still out there.
