He does that thing I’m beginning to love, brushing my hair out of my face, and gently tucking a strand behind my ear. “I like the sound of that.”
Our interlude is almost over and for some reason I hate to burst our little bubble of intimacy. We’ve had so little of it.
“We should probably get going. People are going to wonder where we are.”
“No one is going to wonder.”
I laugh. “I promise you—my brother is wondering.”
“Okay, let’s get out of here.” He stuffs himself back into his boxers, gets his slacks zipped, and straightens his shirt.
Then he takes my hand and opens the door just enough to peek out.
“Coast is clear,” he says.
We move into the hallway and make our way back toward the players’ parking lot.
“How did you get here?” he asks.
“Serena picked me up.”
“Do you need to stop and pick up anything for tonight?”
“I probably should.”
“Are you working tomorrow?”
“Unfortunately.”
“I’ll drop you off before practice and then you can text me and I’ll pick you up when you’re done.”
“That’s a lot for you. It’s not like the set is around the corner.”
“It’s fine. It gives us time together because I leave the next day.”
“It might be easier if you came to Reid’s,” I say carefully. “You have a house full of men—there’s just one person at my place.”
“I don’t mind if the boys hear us having sex, but I don’t know if I can do that in front of your brother.”
“I guess it’s six of one, half-dozen of the other. All right, we’ll go to your place this time and then we’ll reassess.”
“Okay.”
We get back to the lounge and almost everyone is gone, save for a few stragglers.
“Let me get my bag and we’ll go.”
I watch him walk back toward the dressing room and I lean against a wall in the corridor.
We’re having our first official sleepover.
And we’re going to wake up together this time.

My alarm goes off at seven, and I feel Maya groan.
