“Don’t you dare.”
I chuckle. “You didn’t like that look?”
“It wasn’t bad.” She tugs on a piece of my hair. “But I like something to grab on to.”
My cock jumps to life against her, and she pushes away from me. “None of that.”
I close the distance she just made and tug her back. “You started it.”
She rolls her eyes but wraps her arms around my neck so we look like we’re about to start slow dancing. Her fingers play with the hairs at the base of my skull, and it feels so good I almost close my eyes.
“So you’re really telling me, after all you just confessed, you weren’t nervous in any of those scenarios or right now?” she asks.
Fuck. “Okay, fine. Maybe I’m a little nervous.”
“Why is that?”
“You’re not?”
“A little.” She sighs. “But I think I’m more excited.”
“Oh?”
“Should I not be?”
I shake my head. “It’s new, what we’re doing.”
“It is. Are you sure it doesn’t bother you?”
“Why would my ex-lover coming back into my life after ten years and my wife and I both being attracted to him and basically propositioning him bother me?”
She snorts. “Geez, when you put it that way…should we tell him we changed our minds?”
“Do you want to?” I ask the question even though I know what her answer will be.
“No, I don’t. Do you?”
“No.”
We stare at each other a beat longer.
“Does this make us weird?” she asks eventually.
“According to most of the people here and friends in our life, no. Just today, Phil was talking about how they spent the night with another couple here.”
Quinn nods and holds the back of my neck in a firm grip. “I want you to know that whatever happens tonight or any time after this, nothing changes how much I love you and how attracted I am to you.”
With the heat of her body and the way she’s looking at me, blue eyes sincere and muscles relaxed, I know she’s not lying. And after last night, I’m confident that no matter what happens from here, Quinn and I will always make our relationship work. I don’t even need to complete the rest of this retreat to know that. I hope she believes that, too.
“The same goes for me,” I confirm. “And if, at any time, you need this to stop, just say the magic word.”
“Furby.”
I huff a laugh and kiss her forehead, realizing all the nerves I was feeling before are gone. Leave it to Quinn to know exactly how to distract me. There’s only one other person who would be able to do that.
Knock! Knock!
Speak of the devil.
