Me: Just wrapping up.

Justice: Good. Come home.

I smiled before sliding it into my purse.

Outside, Derrick took my bag and opened the car door. I barely got my seat belt on before telling him to turn the heat up.

Justice had sent a car so I wouldn’t have to worry about driving back. He was worse now that my stomach had gotten bigger. If I mentioned carrying something, he wanted to know why somebody else hadn’t carried it for me.

I couldn’t lie. I enjoyed the shit out of it, too.

On the ride home, I looked through my notes again. The Banks Grand had reopened, and Justice was finally getting a little time back. There was still plenty to handle with the fallout, but at least people were coming through the doors again.

Storie was still missing.

Four months hadn’t given us an answer. I moved back into the house, and Dream was home, but security remained. I wasn’t confusing a quiet house with a guarantee that she would never show up again.

When we pulled into the driveway, Justice was already opening the front door.

“What took you so long?” he asked as I got out.

“I was working.”

“You could’ve written three books by now.”

“You better hope I don’t put you in one.”

“Make sure I’m rich.”

I laughed as he took my hand and brought me inside. He kissed me before helping with my coat.

“How’d it go?”

“She loved it. Then told me to cut my favorite scene.”

“That don’t sound like love.”

“I know. I’m trying to be mature about it.” I pouted.

“Let me know how that works out.”

“Ma!” Keenan called from the living room.

He was stretched across the couch while Dream sat on the floor with markers and paper scattered around her.

“How was the meeting?” he asked.

“Good. I have more work to do, though.”

“You always have more work.” He smiled.

“That’s because I’m trying to get paid.”

“Daddy will give you his money,” Dream said.

Justice really did spoil us. All I could do was laugh at her.

Dream got up and came over to touch my stomach.
