A place not even Leo knows about.

My cabin.

CHAPTER 11

KNOX

We drive through twenty minutes of forest before reaching our destination: a gorgeous English-style cottage with a beautiful flower garden in front of its porch.

I turn to look at Cillian.

He’s completely passed out in the passenger seat, his body curled, his head resting against the window frame.

He looks gorgeous, but he also looks small.

Fuck… I hate that he looks small.

So vulnerable and scared.

Björn shifts the SUV into park, leaving the headlights on to illuminate the driveway.

“We’re here—”

“Shh… he’s asleep,” I whisper, already opening my door.

I round the front of the SUV and ease Cillian’s door open, catching his weight so he doesn’t slump out.

Luckily, he doesn’t even stir.

I lean into the car, slipping one arm beneath his knees and the other around his back, and lift him out.

His head nestles into the crook of my neck, and my grip instinctively tightens around him.

Björn watches from the driver’s seat, giving me a look.

And yeah, I know I fucked up by letting him see how close I’ve become with our primary, but I don’t give a damn.

I turn my back on him and carry Cillian toward the porch steps.

When we reach the front door, I shift Cillian’s weight higher against my chest and gently sway him.

“Cillian… we need the key,” I murmur.

“Mmm…”

I nudge his cheek with my chin. “Little Prince, where is the key?”

“Under… the middle pot… bench,” he mumbles, nuzzling his face against my neck.

Fuck, that feels good.

I hold him tighter, reach under the ceramic planter near the bench, grab the key, and unlock the front door.

I step inside, flick on the light, and—wow.

The place is incredible.

There are canvases tucked into almost every corner, some finished in oils, others in watercolors, and many left as unfinished sketches.
