I take one of the pellet tubes and refill my rifle. “You just like shooting at cops without getting in trouble.”

“A little bit.” The Viking grins. “So, how are we doing this? Left, right, and roll? Double eight?”

“No, we’re too few for a double eight. They can flank us as soon as we take the curve.”

“Not if I help,” says Leif over the comms.

“My beautiful bastard!” Björn cheers. “What’s your 20?”

“Roof of the bunker.”

We look up and see him grinning and waving at us without a care in the world, right above the remaining cops, while they are unaware of his location.

“Hahaha! How the fuck did you get up there, Leif?” asks Damián without lowering his aim from the line of cops.

“Jumped from a very, very tall tree.”

“Well, now that we’re four, let’s do the double eight.” I look toward Leif, making sure the cops can’t see me or what I’m looking at. “Leif, take the right. Damián, center. Björn, with me.”

“On three…” says Leif. “One…”

I make sure the pellet container of my rifle is closed.

“Two…”

I position myself.

“Three!”

We sprint while at the same time Leif drops from the roof and starts firing.

THWACK!

THWACK!

Three cops go down.

Damián slides behind a stack of pallets and clears two more.

Björn charges, almost taking a hit on the shoulder, but manages to tag two officers before they can reload.

We shoot, run, scream, and basically hunt these poor cops who are now running away like Bambi.

Less than two minutes later, every NYPD officer is out.

Well, everyone except the Chief, Iacob Sobczak.

He is a tall, half-Polish man in his early forties with short blond hair, amber eyes, and a well-kept beard.

This man has helped Damián arrest dozens of names on Oliver’s list… so yeah, he is a beast.

Iacob is so fast he manages to lunge at me and kick the rifle out of my hands, sending it clattering to the ground next to an oil barrel.

I pivot and throw a jab, but he blocks it and kicks my leg so hard that it rattles my fucking thigh.

“Yes, Chief!” “Come on, Sobczak!” the cops cheer.

I throw a hook, spin him, and shove his back into a tree.
