I blinked my eyes open and followed their gazes to see something in the woods moving. My eyes widened, and I rubbed them some more in case I was seeing things. But, no, there was definitely something moving, right in sight of my window.
The girls pranced to the edge of the bed, and I leaned back on my forearms to get a better view of a wolf prowling through the forest. I couldn’t see who it was, but he was huge, even from up here.
It could be anyone that I knew, maybe someone I didn’t.
Heat coursed through my body, and I didn’t know why, but I couldn’t stop it. It grew warmer and warmer and warmer, the pressure building up. I pulled my knees closer to my chest and clenched. Hard.
I ground my thighs together and bit back a whimper. Who is that?
While I couldn’t see the details of his face, I could tell he was now staring right in my direction. At me. More heat coursed through my body, and I dipped a hand between my legs because I only lived once and I didn’t have much time left.
So, who cared if they saw me touching myself?
Between all that tension this morning, I needed it.
After finding my clit, I moved my fingers in small circles around the sensitive bud. Back and forth and back and forth. A moan escaped my mouth. I curled my toes and arched my back, keeping my gaze on the beast.
If this was who I thought … he wouldn’t be able to resist watching me.
No, he was going to break through that door and take what he thought was his.
Pressure rose higher and higher in my core, and I whimpered again. Fuck.
When I reopened my eyes, Black Hollows was suddenly empty. No wolf. No beast. Nothing. My eyes widened, yet I couldn’t stop. No, I needed more. I needed him to touch me. To smell me. He wouldn’t be able to—
But before I could continue, my bedroom door slammed open, and he walked in.
Chapter Thirty-One
Ember
“What are you doing?!” Cade growled at me, shutting the door behind himself.
I stared straight at him, daring him to come closer, and continued rubbing my cunt, the heat only growing hotter and hotter. How dare he come into my room and ask what I was doing when he was obviously just using me for money?!
“You made me think you were bringing me to my appointments out of the goodness of your heart,” I said, as in control as I could stay, the pressure rising higher inside my core when he saw what I was doing. “Don’t judge me for this.”
But I knew he wasn’t judging me. No … he wanted me.
“I could smell you from half a fucking mile away, Ember,” he snarled. “Stop it.”
“No.”
While I could see Cade was desperately trying to stay in control, there was something in his eyes I couldn’t quite place, something sinister and savage, something that trembled when reeled in.
“Ember,” he said quietly this time, his voice strained, “stop it.”
“This is your punishment,” I growled back, spreading my legs further apart so he could get a good view because this was what he deserved. To see and to want, but never to have. Not after using me like he had.
Another growl, and he moved closer. “Stop it, and I’ll explain.”
“Why do you want me to stop? Don’t you like using me like this?”
“Because I can’t control my wolf. Not when you’re going into—”
Before he could continue, he stopped himself, both verbally and physically. He clenched his jaw hard, his claws slicing into his palms until blood dribbled out onto the wooden floorboards at his feet.
“Because why?” I pushed. “Hmm?”
