turkeytalk (November 2, 2023): a lot of y’all have been giving me shit for saying Baptiste is good, but HE. IS. GOOD.

↪ turkeytalk: The Turkeys acquired Baptiste late last season for PENNIES (probably for his low output and reputation of having a bad attitude). He had a rocky start, but since the new season started, he’s been sensational. All those sparks of brilliance they talked about when he was first drafted are back.

↪ gobblegoals: i’ll admit it, he looks good. better than I expected. but are we sure this isn’t just the Dylan Everett effect? Everett could generate points with a literal garbage can on the ice with him. (shout out to the short-lived Novak-Everett-Jefferson line, woof)

↪ turkeytalk: That’s half true, but note that Jefferson only got one point out of that and he was with them for seven games iirc. Just looking up the last seven games for Baptiste, he’s gotten 8 points. And Jefferson’s was a secondary assist off of a fantastic pass from Novak to Everett. Do not tell me Baptiste has not had some sick plays.

↪ gobblegoals: fair…but most players are better than Jefferson. that’s not very conclusive about IF Baptiste is good.

↪ turkeytalk: He IS good. He just got a shit deal on his other teams

↪ turkeytalk: Maybe? Idfk it happens. Look at players like RJ Russell. They get traded around a lot, do meh some places and are near outstanding in others. He’s been solid for the Crabs for nearly two seasons now. Sometimes a player can only thrive in the right time/place.

↪ gobblegoals: okay i can agree Baptiste is doing well so far this season. the real question is WHY is he doing well for us when he didn’t before? what makes this the real deal and not just a weird blip before he dips again?

↪ luc-henri-sourit: If I might interrupt…. I am but a humble reposter of Baptiste smiles, but I would like to present evidence to the court. I went from posting a handful of pictures per season to posting a handful every game, practice, team outing, etc. And there does seem to be a common factor in most of them…
