Did I just manifest a date with Dusty? Either way, I have to make sure I look my best because I want it to be a night both of us remembers, even if it means letting poor old Mr. Curruthers down.
CHAPTER 4
DUSTIN
My palms are sweating when I tousle my hair, trying to stop the top from flopping down so much. I’ve never been a big manscaper, but this night is a big one, even if I’m not entirely sure Tilly understands it’s a real date. I remind myself I didn’t technically ask her on a date. Like a lameass, I said ‘ I’d love to go with you.’ I could honestly punch myself in the face.
When my phone buzzes, a slow grin spreads across my face.
It’s Tilly.
Baby Girl
I have a confession
I slide the message open and thumb back a reply.
Dustin
Let’s hear it
Baby Girl
I may have done something really bad
Dustin
Funny, didn’t pick you for a bad girl?
Baby Girl
Ha-ha, I’m serious!
Baby Girl
Don’t be mad at me okay?
Like I could ever be mad at her.
Dustin
Can’t happen, plus I don’t get mad. At least, not with you
Well, that isn’t entirely true. If anyone tried to hurt her, I’d be really fucking mad. I’d smash at least a couple of kneecaps and make sure they couldn’t walk ever again.
Baby Girl
Missy Thomas was bragging that she’d slept with you
My eyes widen.
Baby Girl
Which is totally cool. I mean, she has questionable morals, but she’s pretty enough and has a good body
I almost choke on my gum. Missy Thomas? I have never slept with her. She’s a bartender at the Rusty Spur, but we have never hooked up.
