I took it from her.

“You don’t have to help.”

“I know.”

“You keep doing stuff you don’t have to do today.”

“So?”

“So nothing.”

I threw the paper into the box.

Luna reached for another piece anyway.

I let her have it.

For the next few minutes, we cleaned up what I left behind before the delivery. It didn’t take long. Most of it was mine, but Luna found something to do anyway, stacking the extra prints while I put the rest of my equipment away.

When I came back from the office, she was standing near the refrigerator.

“You hungry?”

“A little.”

“What you want?”

“I don’t know.”

“Helpful.”

She came up beside me and looked inside.

“You have ingredients.”

“That’s usually how food works.”

She closed the refrigerator and started opening cabinets.

I leaned against the counter. “What are you looking for?”

“I don’t know yet.”

“This is my kitchen.”

She opened another cabinet.

“And?”

I shook my head.

This was what she did now.

Came into my house and put her bag down like she knew she’d be there awhile. Checked my cabinets when she was hungry. Left a charger beside my couch and got mad when Mila used it even though she kept telling her she could.
