By the time we were pulling out of her apartment complex, Luna had already changed the radio station twice.

I glanced over at her. “You done?”

“For now.”

“You’ve been in my truck three minutes.”

“And?”

“And you’ve touched my radio twice.”

She looked at me like I’d said something unreasonable. “I didn’t like what was playing.”

“It’s my truck.”

“And I’m your guest.”

I laughed. “That means you get control of the radio?”

“It means you should want me to be comfortable.”

I looked over at her.

She was fighting a smile.

“You practiced that?”

“No.”

“You should’ve. Might’ve sounded more convincing.”

“Just drive.”

I shook my head and turned my attention back to the road.

There was something different about having Luna beside me that morning. Neither of us had to pretend we didn’t know what this was.

A date.

Still, sitting beside her felt almost exactly the way it always did.

Almost.

At the next red light, I rested my hand near the gearshift and caught Luna looking at it.

I followed her gaze.

She looked out the window.

A smile pulled at my mouth.

“You good?”

She glanced over at me. “Yeah. Why?”

“No reason. Just checking.”

She smiled a little. “I’m good.”
