“Hi, Mommy, you are up early?” says Mira.
“Yes, lady. Are you okay?”
“Yes, Mommy, I’m okay. Micah keeps poking me.”
“Give the phone to him.”
“Hi, Mommy, Mira is lying, she’s hiding my hot wheel cars.”
“No, I didn’t take it,” Mira shouts in the background. I sigh in relief. The banter is my relief they are alive and well.
“What does Mommy always say to you two?”
“Sort it out,” they both echo
“Good, now give the phone to Leah.”
“Hi, Mariam”
“Can you please, make sure they stay indoors today? Cancel all their activities please, just keep them indoors and please stay very vigilant when you go out with them.”
“Okay, Mariam, is everything alright?”
“It’s fine, I just had a bad dream, and I would like to make sure they are fine. I’m spiraling but can you please just indulge me,” I plead with Leah.
“I got you, Mariam. We’ll have a night of popcorn and movies.”
“Thanks, Leah, I’ll call them later to say goodnight.”
“Bye.” I hung up. Pure relief washes over me. I turn to find Naseer right by me. He pulls me into his arm. I do not object, I rest my head on his chest, wrapping my hands around him.
I need comfort. Presently, I don’t care how he got here but I’m thankful he’s here. He lets me hold him. When I feel relief, I pull from the hug and climb back into bed. He climbs in with me, hugging me. No complaints. I need his comfort like I need air. I’m grateful he’s here I say inward before falling asleep.
I stir and open my eyes, turn, and no Naseer. He left. The one day I didn’t rush out he’s out. I might need to call my children again. I’m still scared of Mr Darabi. I’m certain he didn’t see me. Naseer opens the bathroom door and walks in, surprising me. I’m not sure what to say to him. We haven’t addressed him in my bed. He’s in his boxers. I’ve missed his casual morning look. I itch to say “kiss me” like I used to but that would be opening the cage to let the lion out, I could have a morning with the prince, not a night like Shay suggested after all my body is humming louder than a concert crowd, if he inches closer, he’ll hear the hum. My heart is telling me to jump him, put an end to the drought of my vajayjay.
We’re both blatantly craving each other, he pulls the sheet and gets in bed, moving closer to me. “Jade, we are going to make love but first I need you to take off that ring.” I looked down at my left hand and pulled out the ring, setting it by the lamp. I turn back to Naseer. “Kiss me,” I say. Time to let the lion, roar. He didn’t waste a second.
I have missed him, today I’m letting go and letting my body take over. He ravishes my mouth. He pulls from the kiss to take my t-shirt off and my leggings. He sees the scar from my c-section. He looks at me, then his lips kiss the scar before going further down to drive me wild.
Then back up to give each nipple attention. When he finally gets me writhing. “Please, Naseer.” He makes his entry making me let out a loud, “aah.” I welcomed him home as he fills me and takes over my body in ways only him can.
We move in a way that is just our bodies answering the yearning for each other. My body tingles with every thrust and kisses that he rains on me.
He captures my moans with his mouth. When we both finally came. He pulls the sheet and covers us.
Before I drifted off to sleep, I call Leah.
“Hi, Mariam.”
“Are they okay?”
“Yes, they are fine. Watching Frozen again with your dad”
“Okay, thank you. I’ll call them later.”
I hang up and turn to Naseer, who’s kissing my shoulder. “I’m not satisfied, I need to go again.” I look at him and laugh.
“You have to feed me first.” I smirk
