“Oh. Well.” Ryan blinked, a smile playing on his lips. “Good thing I like a woman who knows what she wants.”
Chapter Ten
Jade
Arranging Leon the dragon on Ryan’s pillows, Jade stepped back to survey her work and smiled. Her things had been distributed between the room she would be sleeping in with Ryan and the adjoining room that would be her own. Everything was in place. Exactly a week had passed since they made it official, just like they had agreed on. They’d spent all day moving her stuff and unpacking, only breaking to take their meals downstairs and they’d just come up from dinner where Jade had put the finishing touches on her room while Ryan had put the finishing touches on the next morning’s sermon.
As she stood there, sighing happily, thinking about all the events that had transpired to get them to this point, Ryan came up behind her, wrapped his arms around her waist, and gently pushed her braids out of the way to press a kiss into the curve of her neck. “That’s it then, you’re all unpacked and moved in. Without a ring or a marriage ceremony, this is as official as it gets.”
“It’s a pretty big deal,” Jade agreed, turning into his embrace and resting her head on his chest. “So what do we do now?”
“Well, my mama always said begin as you intend to continue, so I suppose we treat this night just as we would any other.”
“Sound advice,” Jade agreed, her pussy already humming at the thought of being able to spend a whole night with her Daddy and not having to pack up and go home after a night of sweet lovemaking, just being able to curl into his arms and close her eyes without worrying about making curfew.
Standing on her tiptoes, she leaned to press her lips against his, molding her body against him greedily in a way that could only mean one thing. He kissed her back gently, not matching her hunger, and took her hands, sitting on the bed with her standing between his legs facing him.
“What… are you doing?” she asked, confused.
“If we are going to begin as we intend to continue, this is the time each night where we will check in and be accountable for the time we have been apart.”
“Okay.” Jade frowned. They’d been together most of the day, so this little ritual seemed unnecessary and her mind was on other things.
“So were you a good girl today? Did you follow all your rules?”
Jade couldn’t help but roll her eyes and huff impatiently. She hadn’t gotten into trouble since their date. She was, by nature, a good girl, and she carefully followed her rules, including the ones Baze had for her until today when she’d moved in with Ryan and become his completely. “I’m sure I did,” she said, putting a hand on her hip and tapping her foot. “I always do, don’t I?”
Ryan raised his eyebrows, his mouth set in a straight line. “You are a very good girl,” he conceded. “However, I’m not too impressed with the attitude you are currently giving me.”
“Sorry!” Jade dropped her hand, stilled her foot and drew a deep breath.
“Run down each of your rules in your head. Did you follow them all?”
“I was with you all day,” she replied, exasperated with his line of questioning. She’d already said she was good. What was the point of this?
“Jade, this is how we will check in each evening. It will be part of our routine. It’s important to me. If you plan on giving me this much trouble each time, you will not be a happy girl,” he warned. “Now, this is your last chance. Snap at me again or roll your eyes or tap your feet or put your hands on your hips and you will find yourself over my knee, getting your bottom smacked and then we will begin again.”
Her breath hitched and regret stabbed her heart. She wasn’t trying to be sassy, or rude. She just wanted what she wanted and didn’t see the point in this exercise. Still, she forced herself to do as she was asked, thinking over each of their rules and checking them off in her head.
“I didn’t wear makeup, I was on time for meals. It’s Saturday so I didn’t have to do schoolwork. I cleaned up my room at Baze’s before I left. I didn’t say any naughty words or listen to any yucky music. I didn’t leave the grounds without permission, and I’m not out past curfew nor am I gonna be. I…” She stopped short and her face fell. “I didn’t read my Bible this morning!” she admitted, horrified. She really thought she’d been so good. “I can do it right now!”
Ryan shook his head. “The rule is that you do it in the morning.”
“I know, but… it was moving day and I was so excited, and I just forgot. Can’t I just say I’m sorry and do it now?”
“What kind of Daddy would I be if my first official move was to let you slide on a rule that is very important to me?”
“The good, sweet, amazing, understanding kind?”
He chuckled. “Those are all good things, but I’d rather be dependable, consistent, and fair.”
“So I hafta be in trouble?”
“When you break a rule, you face the consequences. So I’ll tell you what we are going to do. Since it was a busy day and an honest mistake, you’ll get a small punishment spanking, just enough to get your bottom nice and hot so that hopefully you will remember when you wake up tomorrow. Then, we will sit down and spend fifteen minutes reading the Bible together before we get ready for bed.”
“Okay, Daddy.” Jade sighed, resigned to her fate. “And after we get ready for bed?”
His eyes twinkled as he looked at her with a needy hunger, his gaze flitting slowly down her body and back up, his meaning clear. “We’ll see what happens.”
