Before she could say anything, he grinned and fired up the motor. The roar of the engine prattled over the waves as they sped from the dock, leaving behind whatever hope of survival she’d had.

“Cruiser 229 is currently parked.” Marissa rattled off an address, which Troy immediately plugged into the GPS on his phone.

“How long’s it been there?” Havoc asked, flicking his gaze to Troy over the phone he held in the air between them.

Marissa smacked her gum. “Well, it’s been parked in the same place for the last fifty-five minutes. Came from Casey Key Road.”

“Do me a favor, will ya doll? Lemme know when that car moves.”

A beat passed. “What’s in it for me?” The low, sultry tone had returned.

“If Havoc doesn’t take this woman out, I’m hiring her a male stripper,” Striker grumbled.

Havoc smacked his friend on the shoulder. Troy rolled his eyes and wound a finger in the air in a hurry up motion.

“How’s dinner tonight sound? If everything works out.”

“Sure. Just so happens I’m free,” she sang. “I’ll text you when I see movement.”

Havoc thanked her and hung up.

“Is it possible for you not to hook up when Paige is fucking missing?” Troy snapped. “We’re wasting time just so you can secure a lay.”

“Hey, now. No need to be mean, dude. I don’t give a shit if I get laid tonight or not—that can wait. I’m trying to find Paige just as much as you are. But if I don’t keep Marissa happy, she could ghost me. You realize that, right?”

He shifted into drive. “Text Wraith. Tell him we’re going to check out that address.” Then to Striker: “Confirm if the address Marissa found is the same as Spencer Vokle’s home address.”

“On it.”

He checked the mirrors to make sure the road was clear, then took off at breakneck speed, kicking up stones. Wraith followed.

A few minutes passed. “Yup,” Striker said. “The cruiser is parked at Vokle’s house. I find it unlikely he’d be there this long in the middle of a shift. Doesn’t make sense.”

“No, but we’ll find out what’s going on,” Troy said.

They drove for another fifteen minutes before reaching the address Marissa had given them. Sure enough, the cruiser was parked at the curb. Another car was in the driveway.

He rolled to a stop two doors down then shifted into park. A minute later, Reaper and Wraith pulled up behind them.

“Going in?” Striker asked.

“Fucking right.” Troy unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the vehicle. Pulling his gun from the small of his back, he didn’t wait for his friends.

He didn’t need to. Striker jogged up beside him, his weapon out and ready.

“We should have our damn vests on, man. They could be here.”

Fuck, he prayed that was true. He’d drop to his damn knees and convert to any religion necessary if Paige was inside.

He stalked down the sidewalk, then turned onto the walkway leading to the front door. He didn’t need to glance over his shoulder to know his team had fallen in line.

“Spread around back,” Striker commanded.

Wraith and Reaper broke away from the group to skirt the side of the house. Troy wished they could send out a drone to find out what exactly they were walking into, but they couldn’t waste time.

He climbed up the porch, his steps light despite the blood pumping ferociously through his veins. Normally, he’d be calm as hell right now. In his element.

This was different. Paige’s life was on the line, and one wrong move could end things badly.
