“Hey!” I yell over the engine as I approach.

He doesn’t hear me as I watch his hand grab the handle and rev the engine again.

“Hello!” I yell again as I watch him kick his stand up with his foot and peel out of his driveway without a backward glance, leaving me standing there speechless in an oversized, holey T-shirt, no pants, and fuzzy leopard print slippers.

This motherfucker.

I know this guy didn’t just ignore me and leave like I wasn’t standing right here.

Spinning on my heel, I stomp back to my house and find a notepad and a pen. Popping the cap off, I begin to write.

“Asshole, not everyone works a normal 9 to 5. It’s really fucking rude to sit in your driveway and play with your toy. I hate to break it to you, but that bike isn’t going to compensate for what you’re lacking downstairs. So if you would be so kind as to please keep it down,” I mumble to myself as I scribble away, my handwriting barely legible to my own eyes, but he’s a man. I’m sure he can read shit. “Signed your very tired neighbor.”

There.

I place the cap on the pen and fold the piece of paper in half before marching over to his house and sticking the note in his front door.

I really hope he listens. I don’t think I’ll make it another night being woken up like this.

Once I’m back in my house, I slide back into bed, praying to all the gods that I’ll stay asleep before my alarm goes off.

SLING

Mountain lets out a low whistle, making me look up from the bike I’m working on. “Who is that?”

His attention is on my neighbor’s house. I move to stand up to get a look at what he’s talking about, only to see my neighbor walking, or should I say strutting down her short driveway to check her mail.

She’s dressed in a pinstriped mini skirt with those black tights that drive me fucking nuts. Her buttoned down shirt has the top buttons left undone, giving us an eyeful even from here. The pair of heels she has on makes me think she should be on the pole. Half her hair is so blonde it looks almost white while the other half is black.

Jesus Christ, she looks like a sexy librarian.

Seeing her walk out in that, I’m stunned she’s the one who left the note on my door.

How have I been living next door to that and haven’t noticed?

“You hittin’ that?” Mountain presses.

“Nope.” I shake my head. “Don’t think she likes our lifestyle.”

Mountain looks between me and her. “You got two eyes. You think a woman who looks like that and walks like that isn’t into our life? I don’t need to hear her speak to know she has an attitude on her. I bet if you asked nicely, she would let you take her for a ride.” Mountain wags his eyebrows.

“Man, shut the fuck up.” I throw my wrench at him as he dodges out of the way, laughing the entire time. “She doesn’t want to ride nothing based on the fucking note she left on my door.”

“What note?” Mountain asks as he picks up the wrench and tosses it. It clatters on the cement next to me.

I wipe my palms against my jeans, smearing grease across my thighs. “Some bullshit that was tucked into my front door waiting for me. Called me an asshole for my bike waking her up in the morning. Oh, and she said the pipes on it aren’t going to compensate for my little dick.”

Mountain’s laugh booms, echoing throughout the quiet neighborhood as he clutches his chest. “Oh fuck. I knew I was going to like her.”

I scowl at him. “You didn’t know shit. You just saw her for the first time.”

“Call it intuition or whatever women are into these days.” Mountain shrugs as his laughter dies down. “I can’t keep up.”

“Well, you can take that intuition and shove it up your ass because you’re not fucking my neighbor.”
