I know he’s just fucking with me, but I’m one more comment away from knocking his ass out for real. If I gave him the go ahead I know he would shoot his shot with her. Over my dead body could I watch him with the woman I’ve seen fresh out of bed and mad as hell. That look is just for me.

The idea has merit, though. The thought crossed my mind last night when I saw her working behind the bar in that fucking outfit. I thought I got a good view when she was in nothing but a T-shirt standing on my front lawn, but that didn’t hold a candle to how she looked last night.

I don’t know her like that, but something made me want to bash every single motherfucker’s face in who watched her ass in that skirt.

Mountain puffs his chest out as he mumbles, “I’d like to see you try.”

I shake my head, ignoring him. “Back to the issue at hand.” I pin my VP with a hard stare. “I don’t know what the fuck Russ thinks his great opportunity is, but I think I need to hear it out. I don’t think it’s smart to not know if something is going on right under our noses.”

“I agree with that,” Val says. “If he’s trying to pull some shady shit, we need to know about it. I’ll see what else I can dig up on Russ.”

“That’d be appreciated.” I nod. “Alright, get the fuck out of my sight,” I tell them as I slam the gavel down on the table.

Chapter

BLAKE

My head slams back against the headrest in my car as I kill the engine and let out an exhausted sigh.

I didn’t leave the club until almost six in the morning, which meant I hit all the morning traffic on my way home, making my usual twenty-minute drive take almost an hour.

Everything with inventory is a fucking mess. I’m beginning to think that I’m never going to get it sorted out. I have half a mind to just say fuck it and act like I never noticed it being messed up in the first place, but then that little voice of reason pops into my head reminding me that if something happens, it will be my ass on the line.

I’ve worked too hard to get where I am to lose it all over something so fucking stupid.

It’s safe to say I’m fucking exhausted.

The only thing that’s keeping me going right now is that I know I don’t have to go in tonight. The club is slow enough on Sundays where they can handle it on their own and closed on Mondays, giving me a weekend of sorts.

I keep telling myself that I should find a new job. With my experience, it would be easy. The problem is the money. I can’t find anything that pays what I’m making now. I can’t exactly afford a pay cut.

I don’t see Sling or his bike outside as I get out of my car, throw my bag over my shoulder and head inside.

Maybe he’s going to take what I asked to heart and not wake me up the second my head hits the pillow, but I don’t want to get my hopes up.

I set my bags down on the entryway table and kick off my heels. They land on the floor with a thud, but I’m too tired to care.

I’m hungry, but making something to eat sounds tiring. I would rather go to sleep hungry and eat when I wake up.

All I want to do is shower and crawl into bed and not come out until tomorrow.

If Sling actually lets me sleep.

I turn the shower on as hot as it will go, letting the steam fill up the bathroom before stripping out of my clothes and stepping under the spray. I drop a lavender shower steamer on the shower floor, hoping the scent will calm me enough to shut my brain off.

It’s been going in a million different directions all night. There’s too much going on with Russ, the club, and now Sling. I don’t know how I feel about him knowing where I work now. I’ve gone from never seeing my neighbor to him being all up in my business in the blink of an eye.

And he’s so annoying about it.

If I wasn’t such a nosy bitch and didn’t want to know what he has going on with Russ, I would write Sling off completely.

But Russ was so angry when he realized Sling and his boys had left before he got to talk to them. Sling didn’t seem all that eager to have that conversation, though. So the relationship might be one-sided.

I’m sure I’ll find out what’s going on soon. Russ can’t keep his mouth shut for long, especially if he has a relationship with someone of status. And a man like Sling has some level of status. You don’t become the president of a motorcycle club without it.

And if he can throw around he’s doing something with Sling’s club, he’s going to do it. The girls and I think Russ has little dick syndrome because something has to keep his ego afloat.
