2 months later

After the initial shock of finding out that Sling’s club bought Losti Ravn and he was now my boss, I’ve been thriving.

At first, I was pissed that Sling went behind my back and did that. Mixing business with pleasure never ends well, and I didn’t want something work-related to drive a wedge between us, but it’s been the opposite.

Sling and his brothers might own it, but he’s given me the reins. The only time Sling shows up is when he wants to test out the desk. And I finally feel like everything I’ve worked for has paid off. The girls are happier, and we’ve even hired a few more dancers.

This time as I leave work for the night, I do it without a thousand-pound weight on my shoulder threatening to sink me into the ground with one wrong movement.

Sling told me he would be waiting for me on his patio with one rolled and ready to go. That’s become our own little way of decompressing and catching up on our days.

He always waits up for me until I’m home. I didn’t think I would like it and that it would make me feel smothered, but it’s nice knowing someone cares enough to make sure you’re okay. Some days he will take me to work on the back of his bike and bring me home, but he’s always up one way or another to see me with his own two eyes.

I don’t see Sling’s backyard lit up as I pull into my driveway.

That’s weird.

His bike is parked in front of his garage, so I know he’s home.

I climb out of my car and head into my house. A soft glow is coming from the lights I have under the kitchen cabinets, making me stop dead in my tracks as I take in the boxes stacked on the countertop.

What the hell?

I set my bag down on the table as I slowly walk through the house, taking it all in. I peak in one of the boxes and see that it’s full of clothes. Men’s clothes.

A cough coming from outside makes me look toward my patio door and see the outside light is on. I move to it and see Sling lounging outside wearing a pair of gray sweatpants with a blunt in his hand.

I slide open the door and step out.

“What’s going on?” I ask as I close the door behind me and join him on the patio couch.

“I’m moving in,” he says as he passes me the blunt.

I take it as I stare at him. “What?”

Isn’t this something couples talk about before it happens?

There was zero discussion or hinting that this is what was coming.

“I’m moving in,” Sling repeats, this time with an amused smirk on his face.

My eyes narrow.

I hate it when he does that.

“Don’t look at me like that, Bennett,” I say, unable to keep the attitude out of my voice. “This is something we should have talked about first.”

Sling looks at me like I’m crazy. “What’s there to talk about?”

“Um, everything,” I say as I look around.

“Toots,” Sling says, drawing my attention back to him. “When was the last time we slept apart?”
